- 12+ years of progressive sales leadership experience within a software, data, analytics, or services organization, with a demonstrated track record of driving revenue growth and leading high-performing teams focused on government and public sector clients
- Strong understanding of federal, state, provincial, and local government agencies, including procurement processes, contracting vehicles, budgeting cycles, regulatory requirements, and public sector business drivers
- Proven ability to develop and execute strategic sales plans that align with organizational objectives, accelerate market growth, and deliver consistent business results
- Experience selling enterprise software, data, analytics, risk management, research, or financial solutions to government organizations preferred
- Demonstrated ability to build executive-level relationships, influence key decision makers, and navigate complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles using a consultative, needs-based approach
- Ability to guide sales professionals through contracting, compliance, procurement, and legal discussions related to public sector engagements
- Strong presentation, negotiation, communication, and client relationship management skills, combined with experience using market intelligence, sales analytics, forecasting, territory planning, pipeline management, and business reviews to drive accountability and inform strategy
- Demonstrated proficiency in artificial intelligence concepts, with hands-on experience using AI tools to streamline workflows and enhance operational efficiency. Proven ability to implement AI-powered solutions to solve business challenges. Demonstrates a growing awareness of AI risk management and a commitment to responsible and ethical AI use.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, finance, public administration, or a related field required
- Advanced degree such as a Master’s degree, Master of Business Administration, or equivalent preferred
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of sales professionals serving government agencies and public sector organizations, fostering a culture of sales excellence, accountability, and collaboration
- Own territory sales targets, business planning, resource deployment, goal setting, revenue forecasting, pipeline management, and quarterly business reviews
- Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy that expands Moody’s presence across federal, state, provincial, and local government clients and prospects
- Build a robust pipeline by identifying new opportunities, expanding existing accounts, and driving client acquisition through strategic outreach and relationship development
- Establish and maintain executive-level relationships with government stakeholders, key decision makers, and senior leaders to cultivate long-term trusted partnerships
- Collaborate with product management, marketing, customer success, legal, compliance, procurement, and other internal teams to align go-to-market strategies, navigate contracting requirements, and deliver client-centric solutions
- Identify opportunities for new products and solutions through client engagement, competitive intelligence, market analysis, and partnership with product and strategy teams
- Monitor sales performance, provide strategic recommendations to senior leadership, represent Moody’s at government and industry events, and drive continuous improvement supporting client satisfaction, revenue growth, and retention
For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $198,300.00 - $287,550.00, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation. Moody’s also offers a competitive benefits package, including not but limited to medical, dental, vision, parental leave, paid time off, a 401(k) plan with employee and company contribution opportunities, life, disability, and accident insurance, a discounted employee stock purchase plan, and tuition reimbursement.
