Skills and Competencies
  • Typically 7+ years of demonstrated experience providing advanced credit analysis or risk assessment, particularly in public finance and/or structured finance sectors
  • Experience in gas and electric prepayment transactions and structures that include bank support would be strongly preferred but not required
  • Strong experience reading and analyzing legal documents, including indentures, loan agreements, credit agreements, and legal opinions
  • Cash flow modeling experience, preferably related to bond transactions
  • Experience working directly with legal counsel, underwriters, and bankers
  • Strong credit and analytical competence with proven ability to evaluate complex financial structures, including legal documentation and cash flow analysis
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to articulate clear and succinct credit views to internal and external stakeholders
  • Diligence, efficiency and strong sense of ownership with the ability to meet tight deadlines and produce high-quality outcomes
  • Demonstrated proficiency in artificial intelligence concepts, with hands-on experience using AI tools to streamline workflows and enhance operational efficiency. 
Education
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred, ideally with a focus in finance, real estate, economics, statistics, public policy, public finance, or law
Responsibilities
The Vice President on the Municipal Supported Products team is a  senior analytical contributor and domain expert who delivers best-in-class credit analysis, methodology application and market engagement.
  • Serve as a sector or domain expert responsible for delivering consistently high-quality credit analysis and maintaining rating accuracy within their area
  • Rate and surveil a broad variety of complex debt instruments that typically have some form of credit support or enhancement, including letters of credit, gas and electric prepayment deals, cash collateralized transactions, and tender option bonds
  • Collaborate with analysts across the department on transactions with unique structural elements, such as USDA bond anticipation notes and guarantees
  • Typically handle high-profile or complex credits and serve as a domain-level expert for internal and external stakeholders
  • Contribute to research development, authoring sector-leading insights and participating in cross-sector analytical work
  • Maintain strong external relationships within their domain and represent Moody's in market-facing discussions
  • Support methodology thinking, contribute to strategic projects, and help advance AI-enabled analytical and workflow improvements
  • Act as day-to-day coaches for more junior and Apprentice Analysts, providing technical guidance, feedback, and support

Our Public Finance Group team is responsible for delivering high-quality credit opinions and insights that support transparent and efficient markets and contribute to Moody's reputation as a trusted source of credit expertise. By joining our team, you will be part of exciting work in public sector credit analysis across diverse communities and will leverage emerging AI tools that strengthen analytical depth, enhance workflow efficiency and support responsible innovation in our ratings processes.

For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $200,000.00 - $290,000.00, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation. Moody’s also offers a competitive benefits package, including not but limited to medical, dental, vision, parental leave, paid time off, a 401(k) plan with employee and company contribution opportunities, life, disability, and accident insurance, a discounted employee stock purchase plan, and tuition reimbursement.
