At Moody's, we unite the brightest minds to turn today’s risks into tomorrow’s opportunities. We do this by striving to create an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome to be who they are—with the freedom to exchange ideas, think innovatively, and listen to each other and customers in meaningful ways. Moody’s is transforming how the world sees risk. As a global leader in ratings and integrated risk assessment, we’re advancing AI to move from insight to action—enabling intelligence that not only understands complexity but responds to it. We decode risk to unlock opportunity, helping our clients navigate uncertainty with clarity, speed, and confidence.

If you are excited about this opportunity but do not meet every single requirement, please apply! You still may be a great fit for this role or other open roles. We are seeking candidates who model our values: invest in every relationship, lead with curiosity, champion diverse perspectives, turn inputs into actions, and uphold trust through integrity.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong virtualization engineering background with experience managing hypervisor platforms at enterprise scale, across both Linux and Windows environments

  • Deep infrastructure expertise with hands-on work in both public and private cloud environments

  • Experience leading a high-performing technical engineering team as a technical engineering manager (not a pure people manager)

  • Working knowledge of VMware with proven ability to lead large-scale migrations to Nutanix (AHV) or equivalent platforms

  • Kubernetes and container platform experience at enterprise scale — required, not preferred

  • Ability to drive IT transformation with a focus on automation and modernized service delivery

  • Experience creating automated, self-service IT delivery solutions (Infrastructure as Code, GitOps, self-service portals)

  • Familiarity with Linux (RHEL) and Windows Server lifecycle management, operating system standards, and patching at scale

  • Demonstrated proficiency in artificial intelligence concepts, with hands-on experience using AI tools to streamline workflows and enhance operational efficiency. Proven ability to implement AI-powered solutions to solve business challenges. Demonstrates a growing awareness of AI risk management and a commitment to responsible and ethical AI use

Education

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree

Responsibilities

Lead the Cloud Services Engineering team to transform infrastructure, automate service delivery, and modernize Moody's virtualization, operating system, and container platforms.

  • Lead, coach, and develop a global team of senior engineers across virtualization, operating system, and container disciplines

  • Guide the multi-year migration from VMware to Nutanix AHV as the primary hypervisor platform, owning end-to-end execution across thousands of production machines

  • Evaluate emerging technologies and make recommendations based on cost, risk, and scalability to support Moody's hybrid cloud strategy

  • Ensure availability, performance, and security of virtualization, operating system, and container platforms across two US datacenters and 15+ remote sites globally

  • Oversee patching, upgrades, hardware refreshes, and capacity planning, and drive root-cause analysis and remediation for incidents and outages

  • Promote infrastructure automation and self-service using tools such as PowerCLI, Ansible, Terraform, Nutanix Cloud Manager, or equivalent technologies

  • Partner with senior stakeholders in storage, network, cloud, security, and application teams — including Ratings, Analytics and Data, and Risk Management Solutions — to align platform capabilities with workload needs

  • Establish and maintain operational metrics, dashboards, and reporting, and support audit, risk, and compliance activities as required

About the Team

Cloud Services Engineering is part of Moody's Technology Services Group. We own the enterprise virtualization, operating system, and container platforms that run Moody's business — from the hypervisor stack underneath thousands of production virtual machines, to Windows and Linux operating system engineering and lifecycle management, to enterprise Kubernetes at scale. We are actively modernizing the estate: migrating from VMware to Nutanix, standardizing operating system lifecycles, expanding automation, and building the platforms that will power AI-assisted engineering across the Technology Services Group. By joining our team, you will lead meaningful work across cloud transformation, infrastructure modernization, and operational excellence at global scale.
