Skills and Competencies

  • Strong data analysis skills, with some experience using statistical software
  • Ability to communicate analytical findings to non‑technical audiences
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with others
  • Motivated, responsible, and able to work independently without daily supervision
  • Attention to detail and solid problem‑solving skills
  • Basic understanding of artificial intelligence concepts, with curiosity and enthusiasm for learning how AI tools can be used to improve processes and drive efficiency

Education

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Economics or a related field (penultimate or final year of Bachelor’s or first year of Master’s)
  • Fluency in English
  • Fluency in an Asian language in addition to English is desirable

Responsibilities

  • Source, organize, and analyze macroeconomic and financial data to support ongoing research and forecasting activities in the Asia-Pacific region
  • Build and maintain structured datasets by gathering data from public sources or querying internal databases for specific research needs
  • Conduct analysis on custom datasets and produce concise written commentary that explains economic developments to a broad audience
  • Support larger econometric projects using tools such as EViews, R, or Python, with opportunities to expand programming skills
  • Assist in preparing content for publications, presentations, and topical analysis produced by the Economics team

The Economics team, within the Banking unit of Moody’s Analytics, is a leading independent provider of economic, financial, country, industry, and regional forecasts and research. The team supports businesses, governments, financial institutions, and investors worldwide through insights used in strategic planning, forecasting, risk management, sensitivity analysis, and investment research.
