Skills and Competencies

  • Good accounting or finance background preferred (e.g., through coursework, CFA or equivalent qualifications; may be required for some, but not all teams)
  • Strong interest in fixed income markets, credit analysis, financial markets, economic trends, or related research preferred
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data, identify key insights, and communicate findings clearly through coursework, academic projects, internships, or prior experience
  • Proficient in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, with the ability to prepare and present professional-quality analyses and presentations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage workflow, adapt to changing priorities, and prioritize tasks accordingly in a fast-paced environment
  • Proactive with the ability to work independently and effectively in a team-oriented environment
  • Exposure to data analysis or visualization tools, such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms, preferred
  • Some familiarity with Python, SQL, or other programming and data analysis tools is a plus
  • Basic understanding of artificial intelligence concepts, with curiosity and enthusiasm for learning how AI tools, automation, and data analytics can improve processes and drive efficiency; interest in responsible AI practices, including risk management, governance, and ethical use
  • Relevant coursework, academic projects, prior internship experience, or other hands-on experience preferred
  • Fluency in Chinese Mandarin or Korean is critical
  • Ability to work during program dates: 3 working days per week for 6 months, preferably commencing from January 2027

Education

  • Students currently matriculating through college, studying towards a Bachelor’s Degree, equivalent qualification, or a Master’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Political Economy, International Relations, Statistics, or another quantitative discipline
  • Expected graduation date preferably in 2027

Responsibilities

  • Participate in case studies and analytical exercises designed to further analytical understanding and industry knowledge
  • Work on a variety of analytical, research, data, and process-related projects supporting business objectives
  • Collect, organize, and analyze data to identify trends and support well-reasoned credit conclusions
  • Prepare financial documents, charts, presentations, and other supporting analytical materials
  • Responsible for monitoring media outlets and market developments for news regarding special projects, sectors, or portfolios
  • Provide analytical and research support to rating teams across a range of credit sectors and issuers
  • Contribute to the creation of high-quality research publications, reports, and analytical materials

About the Program

The Moody’s Ratings and Research Support (RRS) Working Student position offers current students an opportunity to develop skills that are valuable to any future career in the financial services industry. This is an internally facing role, reporting to a Team Manager. Working Student opportunities are offered to current students who wish to work part-time, either through full working days or several half days (typically in 6 to 12-month increments), depending on country-specific requirements.

Working Students complete meaningful project work determined by their team that has a real business impact, fostering a sense of accomplishment, professional growth, and practical industry experience. Participants will gain exposure to the credit ratings and research environment, develop analytical and professional skills, gain insights into diverse career paths, and cultivate a comprehensive understanding of Moody’s business, culture, and operations.
