Skills and Competencies

  • Must have 7+ years of experience working on enterprise-scale applications.
  • Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts, software design patterns and architectural principles. Experience working with microservices, distributed and event-driven architectures.
  • Expert-level programming knowledge in Java.
  • Proficient in Spring Boot framework for building micro-services.
  • Must be highly proficient in concurrent and multi-threaded programming.
  • Expertise in relational DBMS, preferably Oracle PL/SQL.
  • Hands on experience with container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience working on Linux-based distributions (CentOS / RHEL).
  • Extensive hands-on experience with major cloud platforms, particularly AWS and familiarity with cloud-native services.
  • Working knowledge of a scripting language such as Python is a plus.
  • Experience with NoSQL databases such as Elasticsearch or MongoDB is a plus.
  • Experience with big data frameworks such as Apache Storm or Spark is a significant plus.
  • Proven ability to lead and mentor junior developers, fostering a culture of technical excellence. Ability to learn quickly and work independently.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues efficiently.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, with a proven track record of effective teamwork.
  • Familiarity with artificial intelligence coding assistants, such as Cursor and GitHub Copilot to boost productivity and efficiency.

Education
Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field is required.

Responsibilities

As the Senior Software Engineer within the Asset Management technology teams, you will collaborate with global colleagues to develop and enhance our leading products in the Structured Finance area. In this role, you will play a key part in designing and implementing solutions that address complex challenges faced by clients in the fixed income finance sector.

  • Design, develop, test, and debug highly scalable micro-services and enterprise-grade applications, ensuring robust and performant solutions that meet business objectives.
  • Integrate existing applications with Moody’s SSO, working across authentication layers and identity management systems.
  • Migrate components of existing legacy enterprise applications to the cloud, following best practices for cloud-native architecture.
  • Rapidly prototype new technologies and frameworks to evaluate their suitability for adoption within the platform.
  • Perform bug-fixes and enhancements to existing products, ensuring continued reliability and stability.
  • Provide production support to existing applications, responding promptly to incidents and ensuring optimal uptime.
  • Perform performance tuning of enterprise applications to meet scalability and latency requirements.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code in Java, following industry best practices and coding standards.
  • Engage proactively with cross-functional teams—including project management and quality assurance—to fully understand project requirements and deliver high-quality software solutions.
  • Work on deployment of applications and facilitate software upgrades, ensuring seamless transitions and minimal disruption to end users.
  • Participate in architecture and design reviews for projects requiring complex technical solutions, recommending suitable technologies and ensuring decisions align with business objectives.
  • Guide and mentor junior developers by providing technical leadership, sharing best practices, and offering constructive feedback through regular code reviews.
  • Lead by example in ensuring adherence to coding standards and software development methodologies.
  • Communicate project and task status clearly and regularly to stakeholders, fostering transparency and alignment throughout the development process.
  • Contribute actively to documentation at each stage of the software development lifecycle, ensuring clarity, consistency, and ease of future maintenance.
