Skills and Competencies

  • Deep knowledge of macroeconomic theory and data, with proven ability to distil insights from macroeconomic datasets
  • Experience in macroeconomic analysis is required. Experience with technical and non-technical writing, econometric modelling, and statistical analysis is preferred
  • Good communication and writing skills with an ability to convey complex economic concepts in clear, non-technical language. Excellent writing and presentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work directly with clients are a must
  • Must be a motivated, responsible person who can work well with others independently of daily supervision, and supervise junior team members when needed
  • Proficiency in English and an additional Asia-Pacific language would be beneficial to support communication with clients and stakeholders across relevant Asia-Pacific markets
  • Basic understanding of artificial intelligence concepts, with curiosity and enthusiasm for learning how AI tools can be used to improve processes and drive efficiency. Interest in exploring AI systems and a willingness to develop awareness of responsible AI practices, including risk management and ethical use

Education

  • PhD in Economics or related field and at least 2 years’ experience / Master’s degree and at least 6 years’ experience / Bachelor’s degree with at least 7 years of experience (candidates with less experience may also be considered)

Responsibilities
Assume responsibility for the analysis and forecasting of macroeconomic developments in two countries in the Asia-Pacific region. Become a subject matter expert on a particular macroeconomic topic. Lead original research projects on macroeconomic topics and collaborate with junior team members. Present macroeconomic outlook to clients.

  • Assume responsibility for forecasting and analyzing macroeconomic developments for two countries in the Asia-Pacific region. Create forecasts for baseline and alternative scenarios
  • Write reports and economic commentary about the outlook for assigned countries. Cover economic indicators and write blogs. Respond to internal and external client questions and participate in client-facing meetings
  • Contribute to the development of the regional economic outlook and coordinate with other team members on implementing the outlook
  • Works independently to create to write original research articles for the company and other research publications
  • Present at company webinars and lead presentations to clients, either in person or online
  • Assume responsibility for consulting projects under the supervision of senior leadership
  • Leverage AI tools to improve existing processes and enhance the team’s capabilities

The Economics team, within the Banking unit of Moody’s Analytics, is a leading independent provider of economic, financial, country, industry, and regional forecasts and research. The team supports businesses, governments, financial institutions, and investors worldwide through insights used in strategic planning, forecasting, risk management, sensitivity analysis, and investment research.
