Skills and Competencies
- 10+ years of experience in financial services with a strong background in credit analysis, including deep familiarity with private credit markets, asset classes, and structures
- Exceptional writing and editing skills with experience producing thought leadership content across diverse formats, including research reports, infographics, podcasts, and video
- Strong news and editorial judgment with the ability to generate, vet, and prioritize research ideas aligned with market trends and client needs
- Self-starter, independent thinker, and results-oriented professional who can create innovative messaging while working collaboratively across teams
- Outstanding interpersonal skills with a track record of fostering productive partnerships across analytical teams, research colleagues, and senior stakeholders
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines with minimal guidance or oversight
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present complex financial concepts in a clear and accessible format for diverse audiences
- Demonstrated proficiency in artificial intelligence concepts, with hands-on experience using AI tools to streamline workflows and enhance operational efficiency. Proven ability to implement AI-powered solutions to solve business challenges. Demonstrates a growing awareness of AI risk management and a commitment to responsible and ethical AI use
Education
- Bachelor's degree required; MBA or Master's degree preferred
- At least 10 years of experience in financial services with a background in credit analysis; candidates with a minimum of five years of financial journalism experience at a reputable news organization or financial institution will also be considered
Responsibilities
The VP-Private Credit plays a pivotal role in establishing Moody's as the Agency of Choice in private credit by driving thought leadership, research content strategy, and market messaging.
- Support the direction of research activities for the Private Credit group, including generating innovative ideas and prioritizing topics aligned with market trends and client needs
- Craft timely, forward-looking, credit-focused research in partnership with analysts — from idea generation and editorial planning through final publication
- Work with analysts to determine the best medium for the message, including narrative reports, infographics, podcasts, video, social media posts, webinars, and presentations
- Ensure all research outputs contribute to thought leadership and reinforce Moody's position and credibility in the rapidly growing private credit market
- Encourage, propose, and vet research ideas while maintaining strong news and editorial judgment and a focus on the creditworthiness of debt issuers across private credit sectors
- Foster partnerships with analytical teams, research colleagues, and stakeholders across Moody's to drive collaboration and consistency in content quality
- Produce proprietary content in diverse formats, including talking points for print and television media, to extend the reach and influence of Moody's private credit franchise
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve the research process and elevate the quality and impact of private credit content
About the Team
The Private Credit Group reports to the Global Head of Ratings and Research and is at the forefront of one of Moody's four key strategic initiatives. The team is dedicated to establishing Moody's as the Agency of Choice in the rapidly growing and evolving private credit industry through rigorous research, innovative content, and impactful market messaging. By joining this team, you will work alongside experienced analysts, research professionals, and thought leaders across Moody's global organization, playing a central role in shaping the future of the private credit business and contributing to work that matters to clients and markets worldwide.
For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $171,100.00 - $248,050.00, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation. Moody’s also offers a competitive benefits package, including not but limited to medical, dental, vision, parental leave, paid time off, a 401(k) plan with employee and company contribution opportunities, life, disability, and accident insurance, a discounted employee stock purchase plan, and tuition reimbursement.
