Skills and Competencies
- Several years of experience in an analytical, research, or risk management function with a strong understanding of the Korean insurance sector, regulatory environment, ESG considerations, and evolving industry trends preferred
- Relevant experience in insurance, reinsurance, insurance asset management, consulting, or accounting firms servicing the insurance sector; strong analytical experience from other industries will also be considered
- Proficiency in English and Korean required; a professional actuarial designation, CFA, or CPA is an advantage
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex analytical and strategic issues to diverse audiences
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines
- Basic understanding of artificial intelligence concepts, with curiosity and enthusiasm for leveraging AI tools to improve processes and drive efficiency. Interest in exploring AI systems and developing awareness of responsible AI practices, including risk management and ethical use
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, finance, or a related field required
Responsibilities
This role is responsible for managing credit ratings and analysis for Korean financial institutions, with a focus on insurance companies while supporting broader financial sector coverage. This position will report to the Executive Director responsible for financial institutions ratings and will be based in Hong Kong.
- Manage a portfolio of Korean financial institutions, including primary coverage of insurance companies and additional responsibility for banks and non-bank financial institutions such as securities and credit card companies
- Oversee all aspects of the ratings process, including monitoring company, industry, and regulatory developments, execute timely ratings actions, and produce high-quality research
- Communicate credit views clearly and effectively to internal and external stakeholders
- Engage with rated issuers, intermediaries, and investors; represent the organization at conferences and interact with investors and media, including broadcast interviews
- Collaborate with global financial institutions teams to uphold ratings quality, foster critical thinking, and proactively manage the credit portfolio
- Participate in internal and external conferences to enhance market presence and thought leadership
- Deliver timely, insightful, and relevant credit commentary with strong written and verbal presentation

The Financial Institutions Group is responsible for delivering high-quality credit ratings and research across the financial sector, including banks, non-bank financial institutions, insurers, securities firms, funds, and asset managers. The team focuses on enhancing market transparency, supporting informed investor decision-making, and strengthening Moody’s position as a trusted source of credit insight. By joining the team, you will work on impactful areas such as digital finance while contributing to the adoption of AI-enabled tools that enhance analytical rigor and drive efficiency across ratings operations.
