Skills and Competencies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated experience supporting operational controls, business processes, data analysis, and business insights
- Ability to independently execute assigned work, apply established standards, and deliver accurate, high-quality, and timely results while exercising sound judgment and escalating issues as appropriate
- Proficient in structured data analysis using SQL and/or Python; experience with R, statistical analysis techniques, and data modeling concepts is a plus
- Hands-on experience with BI and reporting tools such as Tableau or Power BI, combined with advanced Microsoft Excel skills; familiarity with Jira, Access, or similar workflow management/data tools is advantageous
- Experience supporting data extraction, preparation, transformation, validation, and analysis across multiple data sources; exposure to Alteryx, data pipelines, ETL processes, or workflow automation is preferred
- Solid understanding of data quality principles, documentation standards, validation procedures, and control- minded analysis to support reliable dashboards, reports, and analytical outputs
- Interest in modern analytics practices, including automation, AI-enabled productivity tools, and scalable reporting solutions, with the ability to identify opportunities to improve efficiency and business processes through data-driven approaches. Awareness of responsible AI practices, including data governance, risk management, and ethical AI use, is preferred
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings, explain data issues, provide actionable recommendations, and translate technical concepts into clear business language
- Strong organizational and collaboration skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, work effectively with stakeholders, contribute positively within a team environment, and support continuous improvement efforts. Detail-oriented, intellectually curious, and committed to continuous learning, including applying feedback, developing technical expertise, and deepening business domain knowledge
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Finance, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field preferred
- At least three years of related work experience in data analytics, business intelligence, operations, finance, or a related field
Responsibilities
The Data Analyst supports data analysis, dashboard development, data quality management, and process improvement initiatives that advance the Moody’s Ratings (MR) Business Intelligence and Process Measurement strategy. This role delivers reliable insights, reporting, and analytical solutions that enable informed decision-making, strengthen operational effectiveness, and improve the end-to-end credit rating process.
- Analyze complex datasets and develop Tableau dashboards to identify trends, patterns, risks, and performance metrics that support visibility into the end-to-end credit rating process and inform business decisions
- Prepare, validate, reconcile, and analyze data from multiple sources to ensure accurate, reliable, and actionable reporting and insights
- Perform data quality reviews, validation procedures, and reporting refresh checks to ensure dashboards and analytical outputs remain accurate, consistent, and available as expected
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of reporting standards, data definitions, documentation, and analytical best practices to promote consistency, transparency, and scalability across reporting solutions
- Investigate data and dashboard issues, perform root cause analysis, document findings, and support the implementation of sustainable corrective actions
- Identify opportunities to improve data workflows, reporting processes, dashboard functionality, documentation, operational controls, automation, and overall process efficiency
- Develop working subject matter expertise of the end-to-end rating process, applicable global regulatory policies and procedures, and supporting operational procedures and guidelines, and apply that knowledge to analytical activities and solution development
- Participate in cross-functional initiatives with business and technology partners by performing data analysis, testing, implementation support, process improvements, and reporting enhancements tied to regulatory and business requirements
- Collaborate with team members and cross-functional partners, including R&R, RTS, MR Tech, Compliance, Legal, and Ratings Operations, to support issue resolution, process improvements, knowledge sharing, consistent analytical practices, and the reliable delivery of reporting capabilities
About the Team
The Regulatory Support and Controls team within Moody’s Ratings Operations and Controls is responsible for implementing, executing, supporting, and strengthening processes and enabling technology that supports the end-to-end credit rating process and regulatory-mandated activities. By joining this team, you will contribute to initiatives that enhance operational effectiveness, strengthen data-driven decision-making, and support the delivery of reliable analytics, reporting, and process improvements across Moody's Ratings.
