Skills and Competencies

  • Strong credit and analytical skills, with the ability to evaluate covered bond issuers, collateral pools, legal frameworks, transaction structures and financial data
  • Ability to formulate, communicate and defend well-supported credit opinions in rating committees and with internal and external stakeholders
  • Knowledge of covered bonds, structured finance, banking or fixed-income markets; relevant rating agency, credit or securitisation experience is preferred
  • Strong quantitative and data-analysis capabilities, including Excel skills. Experience with SQL or similar data tools and proficiency in Python/ R programming would be an advantage
  • Advanced knowledge, formal training, or practical experience in econometrics, machine learning, and large-scale data analysis would be advantageous
  • Demonstrated ability to adopt and apply AI, digital and emerging technologies to improve analytical workflows, research, data analysis and operational efficiency as advantage
  • Strong written and verbal communication, strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
  • Collaborative and proactive mindset, with the ability to work independently and across teams and regions
  • Fluency in English and German required. Fluency in other European languages, in particular Dutch, an advantage

Education

  • A master’s degree or MBA in finance, economics, econometrics, statistics, applied mathematics, financial engineering, accounting, law or another relevant quantitative or analytical field would be a plus

Responsibilities

Manage the day-to-day credit analysis and monitoring of an assigned portfolio of EMEA covered bond programmes.

  • Assess issuer credit strength, collateral pools, programme structures, cash flows, legal frameworks and documentation using Moody’s methodologies and analytical tools
  • Formulate and substantiate independent credit opinions, ensure rating accuracy and apply methodologies consistently
  • Serve as the primary analyst on assigned credits, prepare rating committee materials, present recommendations and contribute actively to committee discussions
  • Monitor credit, market, macroeconomic, legal and regulatory developments affecting covered bonds
  • Produce clear and insightful transaction reports, sector research and other analytical publications
  • Support investor, issuer and intermediary engagement through meetings, presentations and responses to market enquiries
  • Collaborate with the EMEA Covered Bonds team and other SFG teams on analytical work, research, methodologies, projects and, where required, securitisation ratings
  • Use AI-enabled tools and other digital technologies to strengthen analysis and improve the quality and efficiency of analytical workflows
  • Contribute to methodology, model, data and thought-leadership initiatives, and support the development of junior analysts through knowledge sharing and guidance

About the Team

The role sits within the EMEA Covered Bonds team in the Structured Finance Group. The team delivers independent, high-quality credit analysis and research on covered bond programmes across EMEA, combining issuer, collateral, structural, legal and market analysis. The role involves close collaboration with covered bond analysts across jurisdictions and with other regional and global SFG teams, including on selected securitisation transactions and analytical innovation initiatives. By joining our team, you will work on complex and evolving financing structures, collaborate with experienced professionals across Moody's Ratings, and contribute to the adoption of innovative technologies, including AI-enabled solutions, that enhance analytical capabilities and operational efficiency.
