Skills and Competencies
  • Strong generalist engineering experience with the ability to design, build, and deliver reliable software across the full stack
  • Proficiency in Python or similar for backend services and AI workloads, and TypeScript or React (or comparable frameworks) for frontend development
  • Hands on experience with GoLang, AWS and Kubernetes / Hashi Stack are must haves
  • Hands-on experience with large language models in production, including retrieval-augmented generation, evaluations, and deployment
  • Working knowledge of cloud infrastructure, containerization, and the operational responsibilities that come with owning production services
  • Experience working with complex, real-world data sources including documents, contracts, and internal enterprise systems
  • Demonstrated product instinct with the ability to translate user needs into software decisions and clearly communicate technical tradeoffs to non-engineers
  • Proven ability to lead projects independently and serve as a strong collaborative teammate when appropriate
  • Deep expertise in artificial intelligence, with a track record of implementing advanced AI solutions to drive strategic transformation and operational efficiency. Strong experience using AI tools to lead innovation initiatives. Demonstrated leadership in managing AI-related risks, ensuring ethical governance, and fostering a culture of responsible AI adoption across the organization
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
Responsibilities
Build and lead the development of AI-powered software solutions that solve real business problems across Moody's, from discovery through production
  • Identify high-friction problems across the business and design software solutions that address them effectively
  • Build full-stack applications powered by modern AI tooling, owning delivery end-to-end
  • Lead technical design and direction on assigned projects, articulating tradeoffs clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Spend meaningful time with end users to understand how they work and translate those insights into informed product decisions
  • Ship to production and maintain accountability for the quality and performance of systems post-launch
  • Review, test, and approve code to ensure quality, consistency, and alignment with engineering standards
  • Support and mentor engineers on the team, contributing to their technical growth and development
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of team practices, tooling, and standards

Our Applied AI Engineering team is responsible for driving innovation and building scalable AI solutions across Moody's. The team identifies high-impact problems across the business and builds the software that solves them — from internal platforms that transform how our legal and operations teams work, to external products that reach our customers directly. For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $116,500.00 - $169,000.00, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation. Moody’s also offers a competitive benefits package, including not but limited to medical, dental, vision, parental leave, paid time off, a 401(k) plan with employee and company contribution opportunities, life, disability, and accident insurance, a discounted employee stock purchase plan, and tuition reimbursement.
