Skills and Competencies
  • 6+ years of credit/bankruptcy experience, including database development and research
  • Strong analytical orientation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to confidently represent leveraged finance research externally with research clients and the media and, internally with credit analysts in various groups including CFG, SFG, FIG, and Private Credit
  • Diligence, sense of ownership and ability to meet tight deadlines with high quality outcomes
  • Demonstrated proficiency in artificial intelligence concepts, with hands-on experience using AI tools to streamline workflows and enhance operational efficiency. Proven ability to implement AI-powered solutions to solve business challenges. Demonstrates a growing awareness of AI risk management and a commitment to responsible and ethical AI use
Education
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred
Responsibilities
VP, Senior Analyst specializing in Leveraged Finance and LGD, responsible for producing research, developing databases, and working with market participants.
  • Interact with different market participants to present Moody's analytical views and perspectives
  • Present research that reflects data visualization and presentation skills as well as an innovative, creative, and rigorous approach
  • Build rapport internally and with investors and the broader marketplace, communicating critical credit views that enhance Moody's Ratings' relevance, expand our brand and reputation as a trusted source of credit insight
  • Produce LGD research for investors that supports credit ratings and research across rating groups within MIS based on LGD data, with coverage including CFG and SFG and an interest in expanding into FIG and Private Credit
  • Provide ongoing research and analysis of US resolved corporate defaults and monthly data
  • Develop a database and subsequent research regarding resolved corporate defaults in EMEA and eventually other asset classes
  • Develop research regarding the credit performance (downgrade, default, and recovery) of private equity-backed issuers in EMEA
  • Contribute to Leveraged Finance data and research, including potential correlation of LGD data to other credit metrics, especially covenants, and work directly with market participants regarding the LGD database, analysis, and associated Leveraged Finance research
  • Increase efficiency and digitalization in the process of documenting LGD, LGD-related, and private equity-related data
  • Facilitate the integration of new AI and technological tools in close collaboration with the Data & Analytics, AI Analytics, and Moody's Rating Technology teams into our LGD analysis
About the Team
The LGD Team is a globally-oriented team currently working from New York. It analyzes and publishes findings on Loss Given Default for investors and the broader market, including in-depth industry-focused, regional, and long-term trend reports. The team plays a critical role in supporting credit ratings and research across Moody's rating groups and is committed to advancing digitalization and the responsible integration of AI-driven tools to enhance the quality and efficiency of its analytical work.

For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $171,100.00 -  $248,050.00, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation.
