Skills and Competencies

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and financial modeling skills, with the ability to work with large, complex datasets and translate them into business insight; advanced Excel required

  • Experience with planning, reporting, and business intelligence tools (e.g., PowerBI, Salesforce) preferred

  • Clear and persuasive communicator, able to explain complex financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders and adapt style across audiences from team members to senior management

  • Strong commercial acumen and a genuine interest in business drivers, products, customers, and market dynamics, applied to evaluate opportunities and inform decisions

  • Proven collaborator across Finance and the wider business; comfortable working self-directed and with teams across time zones, while seeking guidance on more complex strategic matters

  • Strong working knowledge of accounting concepts with a highly motivated, change-agent mentality and flexibility in the face of shifting priorities and deadlines

  • Ability to think critically to build new processes and frameworks that enable transparency, accountability, and deeper business insights

  • Demonstrated proficiency in artificial intelligence concepts, with hands-on experience using AI tools to streamline workflows and enhance operational efficiency. Proven ability to implement AI-powered solutions to solve business challenges. Demonstrates a growing awareness of AI risk management and a commitment to responsible and ethical AI use

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or other quantitative fields; other fields with transferable skillsets will be considered

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in Commercial Finance, Finance Strategy, Financial Consulting, Investment Banking, or an equivalent function, including exposure to business performance management, multi-year financial planning, financial strategic decision-making, financial analytics, investment management, and M&A

  • Professional qualification or post-graduate study preferred (e.g., MBA, CPA/CA); qualified and part-qualified candidates are welcome to apply

  • Financial Services, Banking, or SaaS industry experience preferred but not required; business intelligence tools and data science experience is a plus

Responsibilities

As an embedded strategic finance partner supporting the Banking segment within Moody's Analytics, this role works closely with senior Finance Business Partners and business leaders to provide financial insight, support commercial decision-making, and help drive business performance. 

  • Act as the trusted day-to-day finance contact for Banking segment leadership, translating financials into commercial insight and providing constructive challenge to plans and assumptions

  • Assess the financial impact of operational and strategic decisions – including hiring, pricing, investment, and go-to-market initiatives – and support recommendations for action

  • Analyze performance against key KPIs, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities, and present findings clearly to both finance and non-finance audiences

  • Build and evaluate business cases using financial modeling, ROI analysis, and scenario and sensitivity work to support prioritization, resource allocation, and potential M&A activity

  • Contribute to segment planning and long-range financial strategy, partnering with stakeholders to develop and validate forecast assumptions

  • Identify opportunities for cost optimization and operational efficiency to protect margin and fund growth investment

  • Develop deep knowledge of Banking products, customers, market dynamics, competitive trends, and sales performance to strengthen the quality of partnering

  • Collaborate with Accounting, HR, Sales Operations, Global Business Services, and the wider Finance Business Partner community to resolve issues, improve processes and reporting, and raise financial literacy across the business

About the Team

The MA Business Finance team plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between finance and business operations within Moody's Analytics, encompassing strategic planning, financial insights and analysis, and fostering a collaborative environment across departments. This role supports the Banking segment, partnering closely with segment leadership and the wider Finance Business Partner community to deliver commercial insight that enables smarter, faster decisions. For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $94,500.00 - $137,100.00, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation.
