Skills and Competencies
- Hands-on IT skills, in particular knowledge of R, Python, or SQL
- Interest in the social and cultural contexts that guide growth and development across geographies
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to investigate and solve problems
- Ability to work in a team
- Interest in Catastrophic Risk Modelling and Property Insurance Industry
- Knowledge of building construction practices across different countries would be an advantage
Education
The preferred candidate will have a bachelor’s or currently enrolled in master’s or PhD programme of an accredited university in Civil or Computer Engineering, Urban Planning, Remote Sensing or Geoinformatics.
Responsibilities
Candidate will be part of the Exposure Development team based in India. He or she will be engaged in supporting the development of Exposure Models. He or she will be involved in primary research needed for development and implementation of said research. The candidate will be expected to gain knowledge of relevant technologies and analytics needed for development of Moody’s products.
- Supporting research on data sets and analytics needed for Exposure development for various geographies around the world, leveraging public and/or open-source data where available
- Supporting research for development of valuation models for various types of buildings and infrastructure
- Researching and understanding of the characteristics of property insurance markets around the world
About the team
The Model Development group focuses on developing industry leading stochastic catastrophe models for the quantification and management of catastrophe risk. Within this group, the Exposure Development team focuses on developing data sets of economic and insured property exposures for our natural catastrophe models. Such products are essential not only for the model development process, they also are a key component of the RMS product line and provide a wealth of valuable information for our clients.
