Skills and Competencies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Proficient in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Experience in programming, preferably VBA, Python, C# or Matlab
- Strong organizational skills, ability to work independently and attention to detail
- Familiarity with credit risk concepts; knowledge of Structured Finance is preferred
- Basic understanding of artificial intelligence concepts, with curiosity and enthusiasm for learning how AI tools can be used to improve processes and drive efficiency. Interest in exploring AI systems and willingness to develop awareness of responsible AI practices, including risk management and ethical use
- Fluency in English is required
Education
- Ideally completed or enrolled in a master’s degree in Quantitative Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics or related fields
- Graduation date of December 2027 – June 2028
- Ability to work full-time during the program dates: June 14 – August 20, 2027
Responsibilities
- You will gain hands-on experience in model calibration and analytics
- Assist the manager with a research project focused on rating methodologies enhancements, possibly exploring AI techniques to streamline the modeling processes.
- Review and understand Structured Finance credit rating methodologies
- Explore application of AI to model calibration process
- Prepare comprehensive documentation related to the project
- Present research outcomes to team members and internal stakeholders
About the Program
Our Model Calibration and Analytics team is responsible for the development, including data calibration and econometric and mathematical modeling, of all credit rating models and scorecards for both Fundamental and Structured Finance. By joining our team, you will contribute to key modeling initiatives central to the development of Moody’s credit rating methodologies.
The Summer Internship Program is a 10-week, full-time experience designed to help students develop professional and technical skills while gaining exposure to Moody's business and culture. Reporting to a Team Manager, interns complete meaningful project work aligned to business priorities and participate in networking opportunities, mentorship, leadership speaker sessions, and volunteer events.
As a Moody's intern, you will gain practical experience, build valuable connections, and contribute as an integral member of the team.
For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is €1.00 - €4.00, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for a completion bonus. Moody’s also offers insurance and a discounted employee stock purchase plan for limited duration employees.
