At Moody's, we unite the brightest minds to turn today’s risks into tomorrow’s opportunities. We do this by striving to create an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome to be who they are—with the freedom to exchange ideas, think innovatively, and listen to each other and customers in meaningful ways. Moody’s is transforming how the world sees risk. As a global leader in ratings and integrated risk assessment, we’re advancing AI to move from insight to action—enabling intelligence that not only understands complexity but responds to it. We decode risk to unlock opportunity, helping our clients navigate uncertainty with clarity, speed, and confidence.

If you are excited about this opportunity but do not meet every single requirement, please apply! You still may be a great fit for this role or other open roles. We are seeking candidates who model our values: invest in every relationship, lead with curiosity, champion diverse perspectives, turn inputs into actions, and uphold trust through integrity.

Skills and Competencies
  • Broad knowledge of economics, including familiarity with microeconomics, macroeconomics, and econometrics, with the ability to interpret economic data and analytical findings across regional and global markets
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with demonstrated experience working with large structured datasets and applying statistical or economic analysis methods
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to respond to client inquiries, support the development of presentations, and explain analytical results to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to manage recurring data validation and forecasting workflows alongside longer-term research projects within a structured monthly cycle, working independently and collaboratively
  • Experience in consumer credit, household balance-sheet analysis, or auto-credit markets is preferred; experience on the credit side of the auto sector is a strong advantage, though sector-specific knowledge is not required as the team provides training for motivated candidates
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python, SAS, C, or a comparable language, with the ability to critically assess whether AI-generated code is reasonable and accurate rather than accepting outputs without verification; preferred but not required
  • Familiarity with cloud computing environments and data engineering tools, including AWS services such as Glue ETL, S3, and Athena, is preferred and considered a differentiating strength
  • Basic understanding of artificial intelligence concepts, with curiosity and enthusiasm for learning how AI tools can be used to improve processes and drive efficiency. Interest in exploring AI systems and a willingness to develop awareness of responsible AI practices, including risk management and ethical use
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in economics, finance combined with significant economics training, or mathematics paired with applied economics knowledge is required; a master's degree is preferred
  • A bachelor's degree with three or more years of relevant experience in economic forecasting and consulting will also be considered
Responsibilities
Support consumer credit and auto-sector forecasting, data validation, economic research, and client communication within a structured monthly analytical workflow.
  • Validate and quality-check incoming consumer credit and auto-sector datasets on a recurring monthly basis, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and consistency
  • Produce consumer credit and auto forecasts while analyzing regional, global city, and country economic data to support timely and accurate deliverables
  • Develop research papers and analytical projects focused on consumer credit trends, household balance sheets, and the auto credit industry; may serve as primary author on topical analysis
  • Act as a direct resource to external and internal clients for states, countries, and metro areas, responding to inquiries and managing customized client deliveries with increasing independence
  • Contribute to client presentations and, with experience, assume increasing responsibility for presenting at virtual, in-person, and internal meetings, including product demonstrations
  • May specify simple forecast equations and support model building with supervision; function as a peer editor for junior colleagues after gaining sufficient experience
  • Collaborate with senior economists and cross-functional team members to maintain high-quality, timely deliverables and support ongoing workflow improvements
