Skills and Competencies

  • Relevant work, internship, or academic experience in finance, accounting, economic or credit research, with strong knowledge of macroeconomic principles and financial/statistical analysis capabilities
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, plus preferred experience with data tools (Power BI, Tableau, KNIME, Alteryx) and programming languages such as Python and SQL
  • Strong data analysis, interpretation, visualization, and storytelling skills, with the ability to extract insights from complex datasets and communicate findings clearly to diverse audiences
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, combined with high emotional intelligence to manage complex dynamics, foster collaboration, and lead with empathy and self-awarenessStrong organizational skills, analytical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize and perform effectively in fast-paced, innovative environments
  • Eagerness to learn and adopt emerging technologies in finance, including AI-driven tools, automation, and advanced analytics, with a proactive and adaptable team-oriented mindset
  • Demonstrates integrity, accountability, and transparency in all actions, with strong collaboration skills, plus advanced English proficiency required for effective global communication
  • Basic understanding of artificial intelligence concepts, with curiosity and enthusiasm for learning how AI tools can be used to improve processes and drive efficiency. Interest in exploring AI systems and a willingness to develop awareness of responsible AI practices, including risk management and ethical use

Education

  • Minimum undergraduate/first-level degree (e.g. Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent qualifications) with a strong academic record
  • Finance, accounting, business administration, economics, industrial engineering, or actuary background preferred

Responsibilities

As a Ratings Associate, you will be part of a global team and you will collaborate closely with Credit Rating Analysts to assign and monitor credit ratings of companies in major global industries, governments and structured financings, playing a crucial role in assessing their credit risk and performance. You will participate in key stages of the credit rating process and contribute to the rigorous evaluation and assignment of credit ratings by participating in credit rating committee discussions. You will utilize advanced digital tools and AI technologies to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and enhance the quality of your data analysis. Ratings Associates are part of a dynamic team that makes a significant impact on the global capital markets.

  • Support analysts in credit ratings, research activities, and market outreach initiativesUtilize digital tools and AI-driven solutions to enhance analysis, improve efficiency, and focus on high-value problem solving
  • Analyze financial data and documents, and build financial models and forecasts
  • Prepare rating committee memos and actively participate in rating committee meetings
  • Draft and assist in publishing credit research reports
  • Monitor market developments, news, and industry trends to assess credit quality
  • Support investor and issuer engagement, including attending meetings and preparing presentations
  • Continuously develop professional skills through training, hands-on experience, and learning about sustainability, cyber risk, private credit, and local financial markets

About the Team

The Ratings & Research Support (RRS) team at Moody's plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of the ratings and research process and supporting various analytical departments. The Ratings Associate will work closely with Credit Rating Analysts to ensure that all tasks related to credit ratings, research, and market outreach are completed efficiently and effectively. This role is essential in maintaining the overall productivity and organization of the ratings process, and it supports the larger team by ensuring that all analytical needs are met promptly and accurately.
