Skills and Competencies

• Strong foundation in economics and finance, with practical application to credit risk assessment.
• Strong accounting and financial statement analysis skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to craft clear, structured, and concise credit narratives.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint. Basic understanding of Python and/or other programming languages related to finance is a plus.
• High attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Collaborative mindset, professional skepticism, and commitment to the highest ethical standards.
• Ability to adapt to a changing environment and prioritize tasks accordingly.
• English speaking and writing capabilities are a plus.
• Basic understanding of artificial intelligence concepts, with curiosity and enthusiasm for learning how AI tools can be used to improve processes and drive efficiency. Interest in exploring AI systems and a willingness to develop awareness of responsible AI practices, including risk management and ethical use.

Education 

• Undergraduate degree in Economics, Actuarial Science, Finance or related fields is required. Graduate/second level degree (Masters, MBA or CFA program) are a plus.
• 3 years of prior experience required in financial analysis, credit risk, or related fields.

Responsibilities

The Associate Credit Analyst ML will conduct ongoing credit analysis of financial institutions (banks, insurance companies and SGR) in Argentina and Uruguay to support accurate ratings and market insight.

• Interpret and analyze financials and other sources of data to perform the preliminary credit analysis
• Develop working knowledge of Moody's Local methodologies in order to apply credit analysis.
• Preparing financial spreadsheets and charts, analyzing data and financial statements, building and updating financial models and forecasts, and writing analytical commentary in accordance with Moody's methodologies
• Perform preliminary credit analysis to support ratings, research, analytical outreach and presentations, following guidance provided by team leaders.
• Collaborate closely with senior analysts to support rating actions and publications; contribute to workflow improvements and analytical best practices.
• Gather and prepare financial information about issuers rated by Moody's Local.
• Demonstrate the ability to understand and identify key factors that affect credit ratings under the guidance of lead analysts.
• Support credit monitoring/surveillance of issuers by e.g. preparing data for surveillance, periodically updating preliminary components of analysis, and initiating/escalating deeper credit reviews when necessary.
• Formulate a cogent rating rationale and present this rationale in a persuasive fashion at rating committee while leading the committee discussion.
• Participate in issuer and investor interactions alongside senior analysts; prepare thoughtful questions for management meetings and follow up on information requests.
• Ensure data integrity across internal systems; document analytical judgments and adhere to methodologies, controls, and compliance requirements.
