Education

  • Advanced master’s degree in economics, statistics, applied mathematics, financial engineering, or a related quantitative field with relevant work experience, or a bachelor’s degree in one of these fields with seven or more years of experience as a credit analyst

Responsibilities

This role is responsible for leading the analysis of new U.S. Consumer ABS transactions, producing high-quality, publishable research, and contributing to Moody’s thought leadership through rigorous credit analysis and innovative analytical approaches.

  • Act as lead analyst for new U.S. consumer ABS transactions, analyzing transaction credit and legal risks, modeling cash flows, reviewing transaction and legal documents, and formulating rating recommendations and opinions
  • Lead rating committees and present analysis of legal and credit risks, including the potential credit impact of transaction structures and documentation
  • Conduct effective market dialogue around transaction credit analysis with arrangers, issuers, investors, and external legal experts
  • Represent the team in operational reviews, issuer and investor meetings, and industry conferences and events
  • Write clear, insightful, and publishable research, including transaction-related reports, articles, and in-depth reports on credit issues affecting the industry
  • Undertake special projects to enhance thought leadership and operational efficiency, including digital enablement initiatives that apply data analytics and Generative Artificial Intelligence

About the team

The U.S. Consumer ABS New Ratings Team within Moody’s structured finance department assigns new ratings to a broad range of securitizations backed by consumer assets, including auto loans and leases, credit cards, personal loans, student loans, solar loans and leases, and timeshare loans. The team produces timely, high-quality research on emerging trends and events across these asset classes through sector and issuer commentary and in-depth research reports, while actively engaging with market participants through investor and issuer meetings and industry conferences.


For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $163,300.00 -  $236,800.00, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation.
