Skills and Competencies

• 6-8 years of experience designing cloud‑based data platforms supporting AI/ML and advanced analytics
• Strong hands‑on skills with Spark, PySpark, Python, or Java for scalable data pipelines
• Strong SQL (Sybase, Postgres, RedShift and oracle) skill
• Proficiency with AWS data services including Glue, Lambda, Step Functions, DynamoDB, RDS (PostgreSQL), and Lake Formation
• Experience delivering ML‑ready datasets and domain data products using Data Mesh concept
• Working knowledge of CI/CD and infrastructure‑as‑code tools such as Jenkins, CloudFormation, and Terraform
• Solid understanding of data modeling, data quality, and core data management principles
• Strong communication and collaboration skills across engineering, data science, and business teams
• Attention to Detail: Ability to ensure accuracy in data handling and analysis.
• Problem-Solving: Ability to interpret data and provide actionable recommendations.
• Should be able to understand the data lineage between upstream and downstream applications

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field 

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain Spark‑based pipelines delivering high‑quality, ML‑ready data
• Develop AWS cloud‑native ingestion, transformation, and orchestration components
• Partner with data scientists to translate AI/ML needs into production data solutions
• Ensure data quality, governance, and alignment with enterprise data and AI standards
• Ability to understand Data Flow and do the necessary root cause analysis
• Mentor vendor resources and junior colleagues

The Data Engineering team modernizes Moody’s Ratings’ data ecosystem, building cloud‑based platforms that power analytics and AI/ML at scale and enable data‑driven decision‑making across the business
