Role Overview: The SVP of Risk Framework is responsible for designing, maintaining, and evolving Moody’s enterprise-wide risk management architecture. This role leads the development and standardization of foundational risk components, including charters, policies, taxonomy, escalation protocols, risk and impact scoring methodologies, risk appetite statements, and enterprise-wide KPIs. The SVP ensures these frameworks are consistently applied across all risk domains and business functions, supporting effective governance, risk identification, and decision-making across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of Moody’s enterprise-wide risk management frameworks, including standardizing charters, risk policies, taxonomy, and escalation protocols.
- Define and maintain the firm’s risk and impact scoring methodology to support consistent risk prioritization and reporting across all risk domains.
- Drive the development and evolution of the firm’s risk appetite framework, ensuring alignment with business strategy, regulatory expectations, and risk tolerance.
- Establish and oversee a consistent set of enterprise-wide Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), enabling proactive risk monitoring and escalation.
- Partner with ELT, business units and risk domains leads to embedding the risk framework in day-to-day operations, ensuring consistent application and accountability.
- Manage a team of two resources supporting the enterprise risk assessment
- Lead development of executive and board governance materials, ensuring risk framework updates are well socialized and clearly articulated for ERC and Board reviews.
- Provide thought leadership and guidance on best practices in risk architecture, drawing on industry benchmarks and regulatory expectations.
- Support training and communication efforts to strengthen framework adoption and risk culture across the organization.
- Monitor framework adherence and assess effectiveness, ensuring frameworks evolve with the organization's risk profile and external environment.
- Act as a strategic advisor to senior leadership on the integration of ERM with strategic planning, operational resilience and firmwide initiatives.
Education
Graduate degree in Finance, Mathematics, Economics, or MBA preferred.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 15 years of related experience in the Enterprise Risk, enterprise risk frameworks capacity within the financial services industry including time spent managing in an executive capacity.
- Proven interpersonal and communication skills at both the executive and board level.
- Experience developing/leading a global Risk Management Framework at the enterprise level.
- A strong analytical background with 10-15 years of experience in empirical data analysis, risk modeling, ect...
- Detailed understanding of global regulatory requirements and demonstrated experience working directly with the regulators including in a remediation capacity.
- Demonstrated experience evaluating risks and developing strategies to mitigate operational risks for a multi-jurisdictional global financial services company.
- Deep knowledge and understanding of risk management principles and strategies as well as the emerging trends.
- Highly organized with extensive problem-solving and negotiation skills.
- GSIB experience an asset
About The Team
Within Moody’s Shared Services, the Risk Management team plays a pivotal role in supporting both MA and MR business by overseeing enterprise-wide risk frameworks and ensuring the organization adheres to regulatory standards, internal policies, and risk controls. This team works to identify, evaluate, and mitigate risks across credit ratings processes, operational workflows, and data security practices.
For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $198,300.00 - $287,550.00, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation. Moody’s also offers a competitive benefits package, including not but limited to medical, dental, vision, parental leave, paid time off, a 401(k) plan with employee and company contribution opportunities, life, disability, and accident insurance, a discounted employee stock purchase plan, and tuition reimbursement.
