We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer with a solid background in Java and AWS, to lead and contribute to the development of scalable, secure, and high-performance systems. You will play a key role in architecting solutions, mentoring engineers, and driving technical excellence across our cloud-native platforms.
This is a hybrid role based in the Bay Area, offering flexibility while ensuring close collaboration with product, engineering, and business stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
· Design, develop and maintain high-performance risk analytics services, engines and software infrastructure using Java and AWS cloud services
· Lead technical design and architecture discussions across multiple systems and teams
· Champion engineering best practices including CI/CD, monitoring, testing, and code quality
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver business-critical features and services
· Provide mentorship and guidance to junior and mid-level engineers
· Own the reliability, scalability, and performance of critical production systems
· Contribute to long-term technical vision and roadmap aligned with product strategy
Qualifications
Required Skills & Experience:
· Bachelor or Master of Science in Computer Science or related fields with 8 or more years of industry experience. Alternatively, Ph.D. Degree with 5 years of industry experience.
· Strong skills in analytic computing and algorithms. Passion for finding and solving hard problems
· Strong understanding of microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and event-driven systems
· Solid experience in AWS ecosystem (EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS, AWS Batch, DynamoDB, CloudFormation/CDK, etc.)
· Excellent communication skills and proven ability to convey complex ideas to others in a concise and clear manner
Preferred:
· Experience in architecting cloud-native applications and distributed systems
· Experience developing complex software systems that have successfully been delivered to customers
· Experience with data access and computing in highly distributed cloud systems
· Exposure to Generative AI (GenAI) concepts or integration of GenAI into software products
· Demonstrated ability to mentor junior software engineers or software developers in all aspects of their engineering duties.
· Prior experience in fintech, insurance, or data-intensive domains is a plus
For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $168,200.00 - $243,650.00, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation.
