Role and Responsibilities

The Lending Advisor role is a high-visibility role vital to Moody’s Lending Advisory team, combining technical knowledge with the commercial lending industry’s best practices. We have a need for outstanding individuals with extensive knowledge of the commercial loan origination and underwriting process, excellent communication skills, and prior client-facing experience. You will support project delivery efforts, including client engagement, project kick-off, requirements workshops (comprised of feature demos and requirements extrapolation), project escalations and serve as a senior project advisor for internal project teams as well as for client steering committees. Client negotiation skills, creative solutioning and adaptability, thought leadership in presentations, attention to detail, and familiarity with Moody's products are essential. Travel required: 5-10%. This is an implementation project support role; not a project management role.

Activities include:

  • Establishing a clear understanding of customers’ current and future lending goals, documenting current and target state high-level architecture and solution design as well as existing workflow processes.
  • Independently lead business requirements workshops and design sessions to comprehend customers' loan origination processes. Be able to demonstrate platform features.
  • Leading and/or supporting the solution design process, weighing solution pros/cons, and articulating proposed solution artifacts and recommendations to both internal and external key stakeholders.
  • Function as key advisor to delivery team(s), including providing guidance to project managers, delivery consultants, sub-contractors, partners, and other project stakeholders.
  • Supporting pre-sales commercial negotiations regarding project scope, technical platform capabilities or limitations, software contract obligations, implementation delivery approach, and/or customer expectations, as required.
  • Provide industry best practice recommendations to effectively support and influence future Product Development roadmap.
  • Supporting both internal and external knowledge sharing and/or training sessions to enhance client-specific use cases.
  • Remaining aware of banking industry standards, regulations, and best practices that impact lending and origination processes.
  • Ensuring projects are progressing according to plan by regularly monitoring project milestones, timelines, and deliverables. Proactively identifying potential roadblocks and implementing strategies to manage and resolve them effectively.
  • Serving as a senior advisor to address challenges directly or identifying appropriate escalation paths to ensure timely resolution.
  • Demonstrating flexibility and assertiveness during difficult conversations with clients, key stakeholders, and banking executives to gain support for initiatives, plans, and change management needs.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • Minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent industry experience.
  • 5+ years’ professional experience in one or more of commercial banking, commercial credit, customer success, commercial software implementation, project management, and/or technical consulting role(s).
  • Strong commercial lending knowledge, such as lending, underwriting, risk rating, portfolio management workflows, and familiarity with 3rd party providers commonly used in commercial lending, KYC/KYB, due diligence and loan doc preparation.
  • Experience in commercial lending credit risk assessment practices across at least one of C&I, CRE, and/or Agriculture sectors.
  • Knowledge and experience in implementing, configuring, or administering commercial lending, loan origination, and/or credit risk assessment software is preferred.
  • Ability to independently lead client discussions and/or coach clients regarding both technical solutions as well as industry best practices are preferred.
  • Demonstrable experience facilitating client-facing workshops including aspects of education/instruction, requirements gathering and group-level problem solving.
  • Self-disciplined, highly organized, highly curious, and attentive to detail.
  • Ability to think creatively translating client needs into high-level functional requirements and concisely explain complex solution designs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and relationship builder, with prior client-facing responsibilities preferred.
  • Proven ability to create proposals and artifacts targeted towards key stakeholders, including executive-level project sponsors, with prior experience in Microsoft Visio (or similar software), Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex ideas, address concerns with empathy and clarity, and confidently navigate challenging discussions to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Willingness to travel for key customer engagements and workshops.
  • Knowledge of Moody’s Solutions including CreditLens, RiskCalc, Commercial Mortgage Metrics, and/or ImpairmentStudio is a strong plus.
  • Technical skills related to C#, SQL, report writing, Generative AI, or knowledge of banking/lending systems architectures are a plus.
  • Minimum fluency in English. Fluency in Spanish or French is a plus.

For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $118,300.00 - $171,700.00, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation.
