Skills and Competencies

  • Software & Systems Architecture: 10+ years of experience building and shipping production-grade software and services, with expertise in AI, ML, distributed systems, or large-scale data processing is required.
  • Cloud Expertise: A proven track record of building and operating online services and fault-tolerant distributed systems on AWS and/or Azure is essential for developing efficient, cloud-scale solutions.
  • AI/ML Application: Hands-on experience developing AI-powered systems and familiarity with ML DevOps is required to drive Moody's platform capabilities. Experience building GenAI-powered applications is highly desired.
  • Programming Proficiency: Expertise in coding with C++, C#, or Java using agile and test-driven development (TDD) methodologies is necessary to build robust and reliable systems.
  • Technical Leadership: The ability to break down complex tasks into milestones, influence technical direction across teams, and mentor junior engineers is critical for driving long-term initiatives.
  • Collaboration: Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and communication skills are required to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders across the organization.

Education
BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience.

Responsibilities Architect, design, and implement the AI platform that powers Moody’s financial products, driving technical strategy and best practices across the organization.

  • Drive the development of platform capabilities that empower the AI features of Moody’s financial products.
  • Stay updated with rapid industry developments in AI/ML, evaluating and implementing appropriate technologies to keep Moody’s at the forefront.
  • Develop efficient, cloud-scale solutions designed to minimize operational costs and downtime, working with high-throughput distributed and multi-tenant services.
  • Work within your team and across the organization to plan, architect, implement, and deliver new platform features and experiences.
  • Break down complex tasks into milestones, features, and work items to ensure the successful completion of long-term initiatives.
  • Mentor and grow junior engineers, nurturing the next generation of AI talent.

About the team Our Platform Engineering AI Team is responsible for transforming how Moody’s products leverage cutting-edge Machine Learning and Generative Artificial Intelligence. We build robust infrastructure, innovative components, and scalable services that empower our business to harness tech’s full potential. For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $202,800.00 - $294,000.00, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation. Moody’s also offers a competitive benefits package, including not but limited to medical, dental, vision, parental leave, paid time off, a 401(k) plan with employee and company contribution opportunities, life, disability, and accident insurance, a discounted employee stock purchase plan, and tuition reimbursement.
