Skills and Competencies:  

  • Over 15 years of experience in leveraged finance, credit analysis, investment banking, or related financial services, with a proven track record in credit ratings, risk management, and senior leadership roles. Deep understanding of high-yield debt instruments, leveraged loans, and capital markets, with the ability to navigate complex financial transactions and market dynamics.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and inspire high-performing teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence. Proven experience managing diverse teams and large-scale projects globally. 
  • Ability to develop and execute strategic plans that drive growth, relevance, and thought leadership.
  • Extensive knowledge of leveraged finance and private credit products, markets, and risk management principles. 
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, investors, and stakeholders.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly and persuasively articulate complex concepts and ideas. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to navigate challenges and complex financial transactions effectively.
  • Proven experience in nurturing and developing high-performing teams through mentorship and professional growth initiatives.

 

Responsibilities 

The Global Head of Leveraged Finance is a high-profile leadership role at Moody’s and will lead and oversee Moody’s Leveraged Finance franchise on a global scale reporting to Global Head of Corporate Finance Group (CFG). This high-profile Franchise Leader role demands a dynamic and strategic executive who can drive the performance of the franchise, coordinate across teams and regions, manage risks, and deliver exceptional results, customer satisfaction and thought leadership.

Key responsibilities of this role include: 

  • Develop and execute Moody’s global Leveraged Finance strategy in alignment with the Agency of Choice mission by identifying market trends and opportunities to drive franchise growth, while providing strategic leadership to regional heads and teams across Ratings and Research to foster excellence, coordination, and innovation, and collaborating with the Private Credit franchise to deliver integrated analytical and market engagement.
  • Strengthen relationships with key stakeholders, including corporate issuers, private equity sponsors, investors, and regulators, while representing Moody’s at industry events to articulate strategic perspectives on leveraged finance and credit risk.
  • Design and operationalize the Leveraged Finance research and outreach strategy to enhance Moody’s reputation in leveraged finance analysis, while monitoring global trends and risks to provide timely data-driven insights and risk mitigation strategies. 
  • Partner with business leaders to support complex transactions and ensure outstanding customer service, while overseeing data, digitalization, and process initiatives focused on standardization and automation. 
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies, maintaining the highest standards of integrity and transparency.
  • Drive change management and foster innovation through digital tool adoption.
  • Build and retain a high-performing team through mentoring and developing team members, including Covenant and Recovery experts.
  • Leverage emerging technologies like AI and data-driven tools to improve decision-making, efficiency and market engagement.

 

About the team 

Within Moody’s Ratings (MR), the Corporate Finance Group (CFG) is a key engine of growth and contributed over 50% of MR’s revenue in 2024. Non-investment grade issuers (c. 2,300) represent about two thirds of CFG’s global rated portfolio and over $4.5tn in rated debt. Our Leveraged Finance research and outreach team provides thought leadership in high-yield corporate credit, leveraged loans, private equitybacked issuers, and complex capital structures, in close collaboration with our Private Credit franchise. The team plays a pivotal role in assessing credit risk, shaping market insights and driving strategic engagement across regions. For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $278,100.00 - $403,200.00, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation.
