Skills and Competencies
- 7–12 years of experience in software engineering, solution architecture, or technical consulting, ideally within insurance, reinsurance, or risk analytics
- Advanced proficiency in Python, R, or similar programming languages
- Hands-on experience with cloud-native engineering, CI/CD pipelines, containerized delivery (Docker/Kubernetes), and modern DevOps practices
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills, able to resolve complex technical issues under pressure
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Proven track record leading small technical teams and delivering high-quality implementations
- Experience with AWS and enterprise SaaS solution architectures
- Strong understanding of insurance analytics, catastrophe modeling, exposure management, and risk workflows
- Basic understanding of artificial intelligence concepts, with enthusiasm for learning how AI tools can improve processes and drive efficiency
- Interest in responsible AI practices, including risk management and ethical use
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred
Responsibilities
- Lead technical delivery and team management for risk and analytics solutions in Moody’s Insurance Advisory Services
- Design, develop, and test client solutions built on Moody’s risk and analytics platforms
- Conduct code reviews, approve pull requests, and enforce architectural standards and coding guidelines
- Act as technical authority, resolving complex engineering challenges and validating solution designs
- Develop and oversee comprehensive test plans to ensure quality, security, and performance
- Manage day-to-day execution of technical workstreams, ensuring deliverables are on time and to a high standard
- Collaborate with leadership to align technical deliverables with project goals and business objectives
- Drive technical problem-solving during implementation and integration, including migration from legacy systems
- Participate in client workshops and discovery sessions to capture requirements and advise on solution design
- Build strong working relationships with client-side technical teams, ensuring smooth integration and knowledge transfer
- Support proof-of-concept builds to demonstrate Moody’s technology capabilities
- Mentor and coach a small team of developers and technical specialists in modern engineering practices
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and technical excellence
- Identify opportunities for skills development and continuous improvement across the team
- Develop reusable solution templates, accelerators, and best practice artifacts to improve delivery efficiency
- Continuously enhance processes, coding standards, and architectural patterns within the team
- Maintain a knowledge base of technical designs, test harnesses, and reference implementations
- Champion innovation and experimentation, encouraging prototyping and sharing learnings across the group

Our Insurance Advisory Services team is responsible for designing and delivering robust risk and analytics solutions for Moody’s clients.
We drive technical excellence and innovation in insurance analytics and risk management. We collaborate closely with clients and partners to deliver scalable, secure, and high-impact solutions.

For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $134,400.00 - $194,850.00, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation. Moody’s also offers a competitive benefits package, including not but limited to medical, dental, vision, parental leave, paid time off, a 401(k) plan with employee and company contribution opportunities, life, disability, and accident insurance, a discounted employee stock purchase plan, and tuition reimbursement.
