Skills and Competencies
- Cloud Network Architecture: Required is expert-level skill in designing secure, scalable network architectures (ingress/egress, east/west, zero-trust) and connectivity patterns for hybrid and multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure).
- Required is 7+ years of experience in network architecture and design, with at least 5 years focused on cloud networking.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC) & Automation: Required is expert proficiency with Terraform for network automation, along with strong experience in GitOps workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and scripting (Python, Bash).
- Technical Leadership & Strategy: Required is the ability to develop technical roadmaps, create reference architectures, and mentor engineering teams, translating complex designs into implementable solutions.
- Network Technologies & Security: Required is deep expertise in core network concepts (BGP, VPNs), load balancing (F5, ALB/NLB), CDN solutions (Cloudflare), and network security (firewalls, WAF, segmentation).
- Stakeholder Management: Required are excellent communication skills to collaborate with senior technical leaders across security, infrastructure, and business teams, and to present complex architectures to diverse audiences.
Education/Certifications
A Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent experience is required.
Professional certifications such as AWS Certified Advanced Networking or AWS Solutions Architect Professional are highly desirable.
Responsibilities
Lead the design and architecture of secure, scalable, and resilient cloud networking solutions across Moody's multi-cloud landscape.
Architecture & Strategic Design (50%): Lead the design of enterprise-wide cloud networking standards, reference architectures, and technical roadmaps. Create detailed designs for multi-cloud connectivity, load balancing, CDN solutions, and network security, ensuring alignment with business and governance requirements.
Implementation Enablement & Automation (25%): Develop expert-level Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) templates for repeatable network deployments. Create detailed engineering work packages and technical specifications to enable seamless handoff to Cloud Operations teams.
Technical Leadership & Mentorship (15%): Act as the subject matter expert for complex networking issues and critical escalations. Provide technical leadership during implementations and mentor Cloud Engineering and Operations team members on advanced networking concepts and best practices.
Governance & Documentation (10%): Partner with security and compliance teams to ensure all network designs meet security policies and governance standards. Develop and maintain comprehensive network documentation, runbooks, and knowledge transfer materials.
About the team
The AVP - Cloud Engineering is a principal-level leader within the Technology Services Group (TSG). You will be a key driver of our multi-cloud strategy, working in close collaboration with Cloud Network Security, Enterprise Network teams, and Cloud Operations. This role is pivotal in establishing architectural excellence, defining secure and scalable network patterns, and mentoring fellow engineers to elevate the entire team's capabilities across our global cloud platforms.
For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $124,300.00 - $180,250.00, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation.
