Skills and Competencies

Basic understanding of artificial intelligence concepts, with curiosity and enthusiasm for learning how AI tools can be used to improve processes and drive efficiency. Interest in exploring AI systems and a willingness to develop awareness of responsible AI practices, including risk management and ethical use.

  • Strong foundational understanding of microeconomics, macroeconomics and statistics
  • Excellent written communication skills and the ability to articulate economic concepts clearly
  • Proven capacity for both independent work and effective collaboration within a team environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a high degree of motivation and responsibility
  • A kee eye for detail and a demonstrated ability to learn quickly and apply new information
  • Proficiency in the use of computers and familiarity with statistical or econometric software (e.g., EViews, STATA, SAS)
  • Prior programming experience in a relevant language (e.g., Python, R)

Education

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in economics or a closely related quantitative field (e.g. Finance, mathematics)
  • Anticipated graduation date of December 2026 - June 2028
  • Demonstrated record of strong academic achievement

Responsibilities

The Economics Intern will support the research team on diverse projects, including global economic analysis. Core duties span the research lifecycle: conducting literature reviews, performing data management and preliminary analysis, and completing client-focused assignments. The role emphasizes professional development, training, and collaboration in a supportive environment.

  • Assist team economists by contributing to a diverse range of ongoing projects, including economic modelling, country risk assessments and global economic research
  • Assist with automating workflows and forecast evaluation
  • Conduct thorough literature reviews and synthesize key findings to support current research objectives
  • Actively participate in the full research lifecycle, including data collection, cleaning, and preliminary quantitative analysis
  • Help execute various one-off research assignments designed to address specific client needs and support timely publications
  • This position is designed to offer significant professional development and training. About the Program

Moody's 10-week summer internship program is a premier opportunity for students to immerse themselves in a hands-on learning experience, guided by Moody's commitment to integrity, excellence, and insight. The program takes place each summer from June – August and positions are available for undergraduate and select graduate students. Internships are full-time, offering a comprehensive view of Moody's business and culture, and a chance to build professional and technical skills. Programmatic elements include networking, mentorship, leadership speaker series and volunteering events. Interns complete project work determined by their team that have real impact, fostering a sense of accomplishment and professional growth. Throughout the internship, participants receive mentorship from Moody's professionals, gaining insights into diverse career paths and cultivate a comprehensive understanding of the company. Networking events and workshops further enrich the experience, providing a platform for professional development and collaboration. As a Moody's intern, you will gain real-world experience, turn inputs into actions, and be integral part of the team.

For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring hourly rate for this position is $35, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location.
