Skills and Competencies

Basic understanding of artificial intelligence concepts, with curiosity and enthusiasm for learning how AI tools can be used to improve processes and drive efficiency. Interest in exploring AI systems and a willingness to develop awareness of responsible AI practices, including risk management and ethical use.

  • Excellent academic record and proficiency in computer applications
  • Ability to work independently and/or collaboratively
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Knowledge of a foreign language
    • Knowledge of/interest in computer programming
    • Familiarity with AI concepts and ability to apply AI technologies for problem-solving and data analysis

Education

  • Pursuing undergraduate degree in one of the following majors: Economics, Statistics or related subjects, Mathematics, Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence or Finance
  • Graduation date of June 2027 – June 2028
  • Ability to work during program dates: June 1st - August 7th, 2026

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and enhance historical macroeconomic databases
  • Administer economic time series databases to ensure accuracy and integrity
  • Ensure timeliness, accuracy and completeness utilizing FAME, VBA, C#, SQL and other applications and softwares
  • Navigate multiple proprietary interfaces
  • Research the availability of economic and demographic time series
  • Improve existing processes and procedures to increase productivity and output quality
  • Generate and maintain metadata to accurately document managed datasets for client usability
  • Support the integration and deployment of AI-driven solutions to enhance data processing and analytics

About the Program

The Economics Center of Excellence (COE) at Moody's Analytics helps professionals worldwide navigate an evolving marketplace with confidence. We transform our data into state-of-the-art analytics enabling clients to make better decisions amid uncertainty. Our clients span diverse industries including banking, insurance, commercial real estate and many more. They rely on our economic research to assess creditworthiness, monitor risks and opportunities, and inform major investment decisions as part of their corporate strategies. Our team comprises intellectually curious economists, data scientists, and IT professionals who combine technical skills with a deep commitment to understand clients’ needs.

This role sits within the Data Services group which maintains and expands the company’s historical and estimated time series databases. The team also drives process improvement initiatives,to enhance productivity, timeliness, and output quality. As an intern, you will work closely with our team of Database Engineers to support a variety of projects aimed at enhancing data operations and process efficiency. Your responsibilities may include:

  • Data Collection & Extraction: Gather and extract data from multiple sources to support analysis and reporting needs
  • Data Analysis & Documentation: Analyze datasets, identify trends, and prepare clear documentation of findings and processes
  • Process Improvement & Automation: Assist in streamlining workflows and contribute to automation initiatives (e.g., developing or enhancing tools like the Robo Updater)
  • Special Projects: Participate in additional projects identified during the internship, offering flexibility and exposure to diverse tasks

Moody's 10-week summer internship program is a premier opportunity for students to immerse themselves in a hands-on learning experience, guided by Moody's commitment to integrity, excellence, and insight. The program takes place each summer from June – August, and positions are available for undergraduate and select graduate students. Internships are full-time, offering a comprehensive view of Moody's business and culture, and a chance to build professional and technical skills. Programmatic elements include networking, mentorship, leadership speaker series, and volunteering events. Interns complete project works determined by their team that have real impact, fostering a sense of accomplishment and professional growth. Throughout the internship, participants receive mentorship from Moody's professionals, gaining insights into diverse career paths and cultivating a comprehensive understanding of the company. Networking events and workshops further enrich the experience, providing a platform for professional development and collaboration. As a Moody's intern, you will gain real-world experience, turn input into actions, and be integral part of the team.

For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring hourly rate for this position is $35, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location.
