Description

Moody’s U.S. RMBS New Ratings Team in the structured finance department is responsible for assigning ratings on a wide variety of securitizations backed by residential mortgages and other similar products. The team also produces timely and high-quality research on developing trends and events in the mortgage market through sector and issuer comments and in-depth research reports and also participates in industry conferences and investor/issuer meetings.

We are targeting a candidate who possesses legal background in structured finance. The candidate will be responsible for collaborating with other lead analysts in analyzing complex legal issues and dimensioning the credit impact of legal risks. The candidate will also be developed to lead new U.S. RMBS securitizations in certain sectors.

In leading new transactions, the individual will be responsible for analyzing the portfolio, structural, legal, and other credit aspects and producing publishable research. The candidate will be expected to lead rating committees and offer their analysis of the legal and credit risk of the transactions, potential credit impact of the terms of the transaction documents and conduct appropriate market dialogue around transaction credit analysis. The individual is also expected to undertake special projects intended to enhance Moody's thought leadership in credit markets and operational efficiencies.

Responsibilities

· Act as the team’s go-to resource for legal matters and effectively collaborate with other lead analysts in analyzing complex legal issues and dimensioning their credit impact.

· Develop other lead analysts’ capabilities in analyzing legal risks.

· Act as lead analyst for new U.S. RMBS transactions. Analyze transaction credit risks, model cash flows and transaction/legal documents to formulate rating recommendations and opinions.

· Communicate effectively with customers, including arrangers, issuers, investors, and outside legal experts.

· Represent the team in operational reviews, issuer and investor meetings, and industry events.

· Write publishable research, including transaction-related reports, articles and in-depth reports on credit and legal issues affecting the industry.

· Assist the RMBS surveillance team where appropriate.

· Act as a mentor to less experienced analysts in the team and RRS.

Qualifications

· Advanced law degree or master’s degree in economics, statistics, applied mathematics, financial engineering or related quantitative field. Or bachelor’s degree in economics, statistics, applied mathematics, financial engineering or related quantitative field.

· Solid legal experience in the securitizations field.

· Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.

· Solid modelling skills and ability to perform cash flow analysis using analytical tools, or willingness and ability to develop these skills.

· Sound judgment and highest ethical standards.

· Capable of developing independent opinions and defending own views clearly and succinctly.

· Professional, pro-active, collaborative, responsive.

· Highly organized and efficient, with ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines.

· Strong teamwork skills and works well with colleagues with different viewpoints.

· Ability to work on own initiative, without the need for close supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

· Knowledge of and work experience in RMBS is desirable.

· Master's degree or advanced law degree is highly desirable.

· Strongly prefer knowledge of and working experience with various legal documents for securitizations, including legal counsel experience

For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $163,300.00 -  $236,800.00, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation.
