Skills and Competencies
- Over 5 years of credit/risk assessment experience, particularly in public finance sectors, preferably in Higher Education, nonprofits or similar
- Intellectual curiosity, honesty, thoroughness, sound judgment and ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to communicate clearly and succinctly
- Proven ability to build strong professional relationships and represent the Moody’s brand effectively
- Diligence, efficiency, responsibility, and ability to meet tight deadlines with high-quality outcomes
- Adaptable and comfortable working with various technical tools and cross-functional teams
- Basic understanding of artificial intelligence concepts, with curiosity and enthusiasm for learning how AI tools can improve processes and drive efficiency
Education
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Master’s degree or significant additional work experience preferred
Responsibilities
The Assistant Vice President will manage a portfolio of diverse higher education and nonprofit organizations. This is an opportunity for someone with strong credit and analytic competence and good communication abilities who enjoys engaging with a broad variety of financial market participants, both internally and externally.
- Provide insightful credit analysis and ensure ratings accuracy for a portfolio of higher education and nonprofit organizations
- Manage ratings for public and private colleges and universities, museums, research institutes and similar entities
- Evaluate competitive position, financial performance, wealth and liquidity, and capital structures in dynamic business conditions
- Incorporate ESG considerations into credit analysis
- Present findings to rating committees regularly
- Engage with senior management teams, investors and intermediaries to communicate critical credit views
- Publish topical, data-driven, forward-looking and transparent research reports
- Represent Moody’s at conferences, briefings, webinars, podcasts and media interviews
- Collaborate across Moody’s on strategic projects
- Maintain professional integrity, transparency and fairness in all stakeholder interactions
About the Team
Our Higher Education and Nonprofit team is responsible for delivering trusted credit insights and ratings for a diverse set of public finance issuers. We contribute to Moody’s by enhancing market transparency, supporting investor decision-making, and promoting responsible financial practices. By joining our team, you will be part of exciting work in credit analysis, research, and stakeholder engagement across the U.S. public finance sector. We actively explore and adopt AI tools to improve analytical efficiency and uphold ethical standards in our credit assessments.
For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $163,300.00-$236,800.00, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation. Moody’s also offers a competitive benefits package, including not but limited to medical, dental, vision, parental leave, paid time off, a 401(k) plan with employee and company contribution opportunities, life, disability, and accident insurance, a discounted employee stock purchase plan, and tuition reimbursement.
