Job Description

At Moody's, we unite the brightest minds to turn today’s risks into tomorrow’s opportunities. We do this by striving to create an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome to be who they are—with the freedom to exchange ideas, think innovatively, and listen to each other and customers in meaningful ways. Moody’s is transforming how the world sees risk. As a global leader in ratings and integrated risk assessment, we’re advancing AI to move from insight to action—enabling intelligence that not only understands complexity but responds to it. We decode risk to unlock opportunity, helping our clients navigate uncertainty with clarity, speed, and confidence.

If you are excited about this opportunity but do not meet every single requirement, please apply! You still may be a great fit for this role or other open roles. We are seeking candidates who model our values: invest in every relationship, lead with curiosity, champion diverse perspectives, turn inputs into actions, and uphold trust through integrity.

Skills and Competencies

  • 5+ years’ experience in direct business-to-business sales roles, with a focus on selling data-driven solutions to the asset management industry.
  • Proven success selling to asset managers, hedge funds, REITs, private equity firms, and other institutional investors, with a strong understanding of their diverse investment strategies and workflows.
  • Deep familiarity with data-driven investment use cases, particularly in quantitative research, portfolio construction, and risk management.
  • Exceptional consultative selling skills, with the ability to listen to client needs, translate technical data requirements into tailored solutions, and articulate clear value.
  • Track record of initiating and developing new relationships within the buy-side community; thrives in an outbound sales environment and is energized by identifying and pursuing high-potential opportunities.
  • Strong communication and presentation capabilities, with the ability to navigate sophisticated sales conversations with senior-level investment professionals (portfolio managers, analysts, CIOs).
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively with internal stakeholders, including product, research, and engineering teams.
  • Ability to leverage AI technologies to enhance decision-making and streamline sales processes.

Education

  • Undergraduate/first-level degree (e.g., Bachelor’s degree) is required.
  • Coursework in business, economics, finance, marketing, or related fields is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities with institutional investment firms, including asset managers, hedge funds, real estate investment trusts, and private equity firms.
  • Manage the full sales cycle independently, from initial outreach and discovery calls through contract negotiation and onboarding.
  • Conduct consultative sales engagements by understanding each prospect’s investment process and translating their data needs into tailored solutions.
  • Present proprietary data solutions clearly and persuasively to senior-level decision-makers, including portfolio managers, analysts, and chief investment officers.
  • Basic understanding of artificial intelligence concepts, with curiosity and enthusiasm for learning how AI tools can be used to improve processes and drive efficiency. Interest in exploring AI systems and a willingness to develop awareness of responsible AI practices, including risk management and ethical use.
  • Engage in regular in-person client meetings and industry events to build trust, deepen relationships, and stay attuned to market trends.
  • Maintain accurate sales pipeline activity and contribute to forecasting and market intelligence through regular reporting and CRM updates.
  • Collaborate with internal teams such as product development and research to align client feedback with ongoing enhancements to data offerings.
