Title: Asst Dir - Analytics & Modeling

Location: 7575 Gateway Boulevard, Suite 300, Newark, CA 94560

Duties: Develop databases of residential and commercial property exposure for use in catastrophe risk modeling applications. Research, clean, and manage large data sets, including Census and others. Apply modeling experience to connect inputs and fill gaps in data. Use database and scripting tools to automate development processes, as well as summarize/visualize data and outcomes. Communicate methods and outcomes to team and leadership. Provide support to related teams and other essential functions. Responsible for real-time response to catastrophic events, including performing exposure and loss estimation and virtual and in-person field reconnaissance. Contribute quantitative modeling work on specific client/consulting engagements. Author internal and external thought leadership, including articles and presentations, on exposure and catastrophe modeling. Provide support and training for new hires. Support QA within Exposure model development. Facilitate exposure model development collaboration between numerous personnel/groups in model development. Keep up with the latest (re)insurance industry trends to ensure exposure models accurately reflect the dynamic markets.

Requirements: Requires a Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Statistics, Data Analytics, Engineering, or a closely related field. Must have experience or academic training with the following: performing econometric and statistical modeling; performing modeling and data mining; using machine learning algorithms with large scale financial data and geospatial data in cloud environments to identify and analyze market patterns and trends; applying knowledge of financial markets and commercial real estate; conducting large scale data analysis in financial risk management and CRE market; working with Python, R, SQL, and MATLAB; working with scientific Python stack (NumPy, Pandas, or related) and advanced machine learning libraries (Scikit-Learn, Xgboost, Tensorflow, Keras, Pytorch, FastAI, Dask-ML, or related).

For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $80,538 to $202,750, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation. Moody’s also offers a competitive benefits package, including not but limited to medical, dental, vision, parental leave, paid time off, a 401(k) plan with employee and company contribution opportunities, life, disability, and accident insurance, a discounted employee stock purchase plan, and tuition reimbursement.
