Description
The OPS team provides assessments for RMBS and ABS originators and servicers. The team also does timely research on RMBS and ABS issues effecting the market, interacts with external constituents and provides expertise to internal partners where needed.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will assume the lead analyst role for the assessment of US RMBS and ABS originators and servicers. This will include analyzing and synthesizing data, such as loan-level performance information, to formulate independent assessment opinions and present them in broader discussions; conducting operational reviews, including on-site; and ongoing monitoring of servicer and originator performance. The successful candidate will be expected to prepare and review comprehensive originator and servicer reports, contribute to other high quality credit research on pertinent credit events and sector trends, interact effectively with market participants, participate in external outreach, and actively contribute to fostering a culture of excellence at Moody’s. The candidate will also be expected to develop in-depth knowledge of the mortgage sector and pursue thought leadership initiatives to enhance our analytics, outreach and research impact. In addition, the candidate will be expected to train new or junior analysts and lead key projects such as analytical updates, maintenance and improvement of Moody’s tools, data, and processes.

Qualifications
- MBA, or Master's Degree in Business, Economics or Finance with at least 2 years work experience, preferably in residential/mortgage-backed securities, mortgage origination or mortgage servicing.
- Would also consider Bachelor's Degree with longer experience.
- Strong academic record (both graduate and undergraduate) from top-tier schools.
- Solid computer skills, spreadsheet software mandatory.
- Knowledge of and practical experience in mortgage origination/servicing preferred.
- Experience in statistical analysis of data and writing.
- Qualitative abilities include ability and willingness to learn, and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong team player with the ability to work independently
For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $134,400.00 - $194,850.00, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation.
