Skills and Competencies

  • Candidates must have passed at least one actuarial exam offered by the Society of Actuaries (SOA) and are making progress towards at least one validation by educational experience (VEE) in Mathematical Statistics, Economics and/or Accounting and Finance.
  • Interested in building your resume by learning Moody’s AXIS actuarial software, an industry leading actuarial software product used in the US and Canada.
  • This is a fully remote temporary internship position.
  • The candidate should be familiar with the Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • The candidate should be familiar with a programming language such as VBA, Python, R, C++, C# etc.
  • Be open to feedback and continuously growing your interpersonal and technical skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Have a customer-centric mindset.

Education

  • Candidates must be pursuing an Undergraduate or Masters degree in actuarial mathematics, actuarial mathematics and finance, mathematics, statistics or an equivalent program holding a 3.3 GPA or higher in applicable actuarial science and finance classes.
  • Graduation date of December 2026 - June 2027.
  • Ability to work full-time for 40 hours per week during program dates: June 2nd - August 8th 2025.
  • Ability to attend in-person full expense paid trip to meet the other Moody’s interns in New York City on June 2-3, 2025.

Responsibilities

  • You will engage with other actuaries and technical resources as part of the AXIS Customer Success team, learning how to help support clients from a vendor perspective.
  • You will be trained in at least one AXIS module and then apply your training to finish and/or review real example AXIS models and documentation.
  • This is a fully remote position so the candidate will need to demonstrate strong time management, independence and self-management.
  • You will be given visibility into the offerings of the Actuarial Development Program to interact with full time employees still taking actuarial exams.

About the Program

Through our 2025 Actuarial Customer Success Internship, you’ll gain valuable experience in the actuarial profession. This opportunity includes exposure to Customer Success teams primarily supporting the Moody’s AXIS actuarial software. You’ll work on real and challenging projects that allow you to build your resume with AXIS software familiarity. Most importantly, you’ll be part of a business that is dedicated to providing you with an initial impression of the actuarial profession from a software vendor’s perspective.

Moody's 10-week summer internship program is a premier opportunity for students to immerse themselves in a hands-on learning experience, guided by Moody's commitment to integrity, excellence, and insight. The program takes place each summer from June 2 - August 8 and positions are fully remote and available for undergraduate and select graduate students. Internships are full-time, offering a comprehensive view of Moody's business and culture, and a chance to build professional and technical skills. Programmatic elements include networking, mentorship, leadership speaker series and volunteering events. Interns complete project work determined by their team that have real impact, fostering a sense of accomplishment and professional growth. Throughout the internship, participants receive mentorship from Moody's professionals, gaining insights into diverse career paths and cultivate a comprehensive understanding of the company. Networking events and workshops further enrich the experience, providing a platform for professional development and collaboration. As a Moody's intern, you will gain real-world experience, turn inputs into actions, and be integral part of the team.

For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring hourly rate for this position is $35.
