Skills and Competencies

* Minimum of 8+ years of substantial credit analysis experience, preferable with experience in ESG integration into credit, focused on qualitative and quantitative analysis of financial materiality of ESG considerations.
* Good understanding of sustainable finance, ESG investing, credit risk and capital markets.
* Possess superior communication skills, demonstrating the ability to articulate ideas clearly and succinctly in both verbal and written forms.
* Display solid organizational abilities, detail-orientation, and capacity to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously while working proactively with minimal supervision.
* Demonstrate intellectual curiosity, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently as well as within a team
* Sound understanding of rating agency methodologies and processes would be desirable

Education

Bachelor's degree required and master’s degree preferred in a relevant field (e.g. economics, finance, sustainable development).

Responsibilities

Analytical skills
* Conduct thorough and insightful analysis within assigned areas of ESG expertise with minimal supervision, aiming to become a recognized authority in these domains.
* Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of all ESG exposures and their impact on credit transmission channels.
* Perform and present detailed ESG analysis at internal credit forums, clearly articulating the effects on credit transmission channels.
* Collaborate proactively with internal stakeholders to ensure the accuracy and forward-looking nature of ESG credit scores in the designated areas of expertise.
* Lead prominent data and analytics initiatives for the team and participate in strategic projects for the firm, encompassing analytical tasks, process design, or system enhancements.

Research & Outreach
* Generate ideas and outline proposals according to Moody’s research standards
* Produce timely, forward-looking and well-written thematic ESG research (cross-asset class or region/sector-specific) with minimal guidance
* Support execution of outreach program, including content creation and presentation at roundtables, webinars, podcasts, and events

About the Team

The Sustainable Finance Credit team sits within the Sustainable Finance Group and is responsible for implementing ongoing and future initiatives to systematically and transparently incorporate the impact of ESG considerations in credit ratings. This specialized team provides data, analytics, resources and thought leadership on ESG integration into credit, including the building of data platforms, tools and insights to assess the credit impact of environmental considerations, notably climate transition and physical risks, as well as social and governance considerations across sectors.

The Vice President - Senior Analyst (VP-SA) will be a global lead for assigned areas of ESG expertise, providing analytical support to our rating groups to ensure that ESG considerations are captured in our credit risk analysis. The VP-SA will also support the execution of our thought leadership program, including origination and publication of research and presentation at roundtables, webinars, podcasts, and events. This will be a highly-visible role, reporting into Head of Sustainable Finance Credit of Moody’s Ratings.
