Skills and Competencies

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Human Resources or other related field, with previous experience as People Business Partner for Costa Rica in a multinational company

  • Strong consultative skills including insight gathering, problem solving, strategy development, influencing, facilitation, intervention planning

  • Proven experience of working with local institutions (e.g., CINDE and PROCOMER) and local universities to develop People related strategic plans.

  • Strong understanding of employment laws across LATAM

  • Outstanding verbal and communication skills, with poise and confidence to interact with all levels of management and ability to build trusted relationships with senior managers in order to influence.

  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to manage high volumes of work and navigate through change.

  • Experience working in a matrixed HR model - corporate, functional and geographic - particularly with US headquartered multinational

  • Strong team player operates with humility, kindness, curiosity, collaboration, and open mindedness.

  • Excellent Excel skills to analyze data and tell numerical stories.

  • Executive level PowerPoint skills

  • Experience managing HR operations and service delivery models, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness in HR processe

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field

  • Advanced degree and/or certification in HR specialties.

Responsibilities

The Vice President - People Regional Partner will facilitate and shape change through their support of the Talent strategy for the LATAM Region, including our Costa Rica Capability Center and our Moody’s Local operations. This individual will serve as a partner and coach to managers and employees on People strategy and solutions for complex organizations, translating business requirements into People services, programs and initiatives. This role will demonstrate the ability to think critically in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate the ability to manage and drive projects across the entity; responsibilities include:

  • Business Advisor:

Builds relationships with LATAM senior managers to understand business priorities in order to align People strategies to business objectives and key results (OKR’s) for the region. Partner closely across subject matter experts, cross-functional teams and people services & solutions team to deliver advice and counsel to leaders, makes recommendations, and is a trusted advisor to senior managers on full range of People business issues.

  • Acts as a trusted HR advisor for leaders and managers in the Costa RIca Global Capability Center ensuring the successful delivery of HR operations and local HR services.

  • Define and build the People strategy that assess and address the unique needs of the Costa Rica Capability Center to develop programs that drive higher levels of employee performance and engagement.

  • Organizational Development & Design: helps identify, facilitates, and supports the implementation of change management and organizational design and development initiatives. Partners with the People Business Partner Team, Leadership & Centers of Expertise to execute on solutions to address business challenges across the LATAM region.

  • Talent Management: In partnership with the Centers of Expertise and the People BP team, advises management to implement a framework for assessing and developing talent. Supports talent assessment processes including succession planning, executive assessments, high potential identification and development, and building management bench strength.

  • Staffing and Selection: Works with Talent Attraction team on staffing needs globally. Participates in recruitment for key positions. Help develop the local outreach plan for our Costa Rica Capability Center.

  • Rewards and Recognition: Supports senior management, compensation and finance in the annual salary plan and incentive compensation processes.

  • Workforce Analytics: Reviews internal and external metrics to draw hypotheses and conclusions that help the business make more informed decisions about its workforce planning. Uses metrics to make recommendations to address people related issues.

  • Project Management: Supports global projects and partners with various People functions to resource project teams as directed. Participates in cross-functional and technical projects as appropriate.

  • Risk Management: Proactively mitigates risk by working with management, Legal, Compliance and Employee Relations (ER) to ensure employment law-related risks are managed appropriately. Maintains a positive, productive and cohesive work environment by dealing with workplace conduct, conflict resolution, counselling, and employee engagement.

Regional Management

  • Develop strong governance internally and externally, understanding country employment laws. Bring together People & Control Functions to work together in ensuring smooth operational effectiveness for the region and drive process standardization. Ensure the voice of the regional leaders are captured / shared across the People functions.

  • Drive a best-in-class employee experience across various talent communities (new hires, first line leaders, etc.) across the LATAM region. Enhance the rollout of inclusion, Training & Development and Total Rewards to ensure programs are localized and maximize employee engagement and performance. Monitor employee trends and identify opportunities to enhance program effectiveness. Drive the strategy and execution for region/country employer brand aligned to local markets.

  • Develop and enable, in partnership with the Talent Strategy & Employee Experience team, talent strategies to attract, engage, and retain talent. Finds creative solutions to increase and support mobility within the region.

  • Facilitate regional People governance meetings with local senior leaders to drive the People team agenda across the region.

  • Provides guidance on workforce planning, compensation benchmarking, and talent retention strategies to ensure a high-performing and engaged workforce within the region.

  • Partners with People Center of Excellence to streamline, optimize, and standardize HR processes within the region, ensuring efficiency and compliance with local and global HR policies.
