The Role / Responsibilities:
The focus of the role is to independently manage the corporate tax, GST/VAT, WHT as well as transfer pricing matters of couple of countries in the APAC Region. The role is based in Gurgaon, India. The position offers a good opportunity for a candidate with a keen interest in tax to be involved in a wide range of issues, covering APAC countries other than India.
* Independently handle the tax matters of couple of APAC countries and ensure accurate and timely filing of all corporate tax, GST/VAT returns and other statutory tax filings
* Handle the tax audits by tax authorities, including preparing/reviewing necessary documentation and responses to audit queries. Work closely with external consultants as required.
* Preparation and submission of application with the tax authorities for obtaining Certificate of Residence (COR), Tax Treaty relief etc.
* Preparation of CbCR workpapers as well as review of transfer pricing documentation.
* Support on developing the framework for tax reporting requirements due to OECD Pillar 2 measures
* Provide tax advice and guidance to internal stakeholders, helping to navigate complex tax issues and decisions. Conduct tax research and analysis to identify potential tax optimization opportunities and risks. Monitor changes in the business and industry to proactively address tax implications.
* Perform tax planning exercises to optimize the tax position, cash flow and tax efficiency.
* Collaborate with internal teams and external advisors, such as auditors and legal counsel, to address complex tax issues and resolve queries.
* Work with other departments (e.g., finance, legal, Sales, and operations) to provide tax-related insights and ensure that tax considerations are integrated into broader business processes and decisions.
* Preparation of quarterly current and deferred tax workpapers as well as return to accruals (RTA) workpapers for management reporting as well as statutory reporting.
* Manage the tax requirements/documentation related to statutory and internal audits.
* Reconciliation of balances and / or movement as per books with the tax returns.
* Work closely with ERP team on tax related configurations/defects/reporting issues in SAP/Vertex
* Identify and implement process improvements, automation / standardization ideas.
* Assist the Global Tax Department on an ad-hoc basis with projects and other initiatives.
* Stay updated on changes in tax legislation and regulations to ensure accurate and up-to-date tax advice.
* Provide training and guidance to other members of the tax team.

Qualifications:

* CA / CPA with 5-7 years of post-qualification tax experience (preferably with the major accounting firm or a large multinational company)
* Working experience on tax matters of Australia, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, China would be preferable
* Excellent Excel skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications
* Thorough experience of extracting data from SAP
* Competent written and verbal communication skills
* Working knowledge of various technology tools like Blackline, Alteryx, Power BI, Power Query would be preferable
* Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment and good interpersonal skills
* Strong organizational skills, ability to meet tight deadlines
* Analytic skills, attention to details and pro-active approach
