Sr Systems Engineer- Storage and Backup

Skills and Competencies

• 5+ years’ experience managing production solutions in SAN, NAS and Backup technologies in the DELL portfolio of products.
• Strong knowledge and experience of SAN products – PowerMAX & PowerFlex
• Strong knowledge and experience of NAS products – PowerScale & Unity
• Strong knowledge and experience of Backup products – PowerProtect & Avamar
• Support of maintenance of SAN Switches – Cisco MDS
• Working Network Knowledge – TCP/IP, Subnets, DNS etc   
• Working Operating Systems – Windows File Share (SMB), Linux (NFS)
• Experience investigating complex issues and performing corrective actions. Highly impactful problem-solving skills, track record in providing recovery leadership.
• Experience working with ITSM systems such as ServiceNow or Jira.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Desired – Bash/Python/Powershell
• Desired – Dashboard with Graphana, CloudIQ
• Desired - Exposure to container-based workloads advantageous.

• Desired - Experience with Git, Github, Azure DevOps or other version control systems.
• Desired - Experience with monitoring tools such as Nagios, Zenoss, LogicMonitor or similar.

Education

• Desired – Graduate degree in any relevant discipline.

Responsibilities

• Storage and Backup Capacity Management
• Participate in on-call rotation, weekend support and provide after-hours support as scheduled in the shift roster
• Implement best practices configuration management, monitoring and security.
• Develop and maintain SoPs and documentation.

• Leads service recovery from major incidents and facilitates mitigation within the SLO targets.
• Work collaboratively with business and technology stakeholders in achieving full ITIL process compliance, including incident, change, problem, configuration and major incident processes.
• Work closely with the cybersecurity team to ensure applications and infrastructure meet key operational security metrics.

• Drive continuous improvement through the adoption of automation and orchestration.
• Identify opportunities to optimize performance, reliability, and cost.
• Give expert technical advice and solve complex problems.
• Interaction across TSG towers and other business support areas for problem escalations, resolutions, reporting and coordination.
