Skills and Competencies
- Extensive IT Project Management Expertise: Over 8 years of experience managing IT projects, with a focus on implementing finance technology applications, consistently delivering projects on time and within budget, using both Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
- Stakeholder Collaboration and Communication: Proven ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders (finance teams, technology services, external vendors, and executives) and effectively convey complex information through reports, presentations, and verbal updates to ensure alignment on project goals, progress, and challenges.
- Risk Management and Problem Solving: Skilled in proactively identifying, assessing, and managing project risks and issues, developing mitigation strategies, escalating critical concerns, and promoting transparency and teamwork to address challenges.
- Change Management and User Adoption: Experienced in leading change management initiatives for finance organizations, ensuring effective communication, training, and support to drive adoption of new systems and processes (preferred but not required).
- Proficiency in Collaboration Tools: Experienced in using tools like Jira, Confluence, and Miro to enhance project management, collaboration, and team productivity.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in finance, Business, Accounting, Management or a related field.
- PMP Certification preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Managing project teams responsible for delivering projects that are broad in scope, interdependent, high risk, high impact, and cross-functional. These teams typically include onshore, offshore, internal, external, and managed services resources, which are global in geographic focus.
- Promoting cross-functional interaction within the project team(s), including Finance, technology, external vendors, consultants, business executives, end users, and other MCO departments or organizations.
- Demonstrating abilities as a 'Self Starter,' 'In Charge,' 'Thought Leader,' and 'Mentor/Coach' who proactively seeks opportunities to serve in leadership roles, even outside of direct areas of responsibility. Consistently demonstrating Moody’s values, especially in leadership within assigned projects and organizational teams.
- Ensuring readiness for change across the business by implementing effective change management programs that result in the early adoption of new solutions and business processes.
- Utilizing negotiation skills to drive project teams and executives to make timely decisions to deliver projects according to agreed scope, schedule, and budget.
- Partnering with corporate planning to track project/program budgets at a detailed level.
- Leading and driving issue resolution, risk identification and mitigation, and change and dependency management. Encouraging the active use of a strong risk management framework with project teams and stakeholders.
- Providing well-crafted communication vehicles on time with accuracy and completeness, such as resource management reports, executive steering committees, Board of Directors status, and various status reports. Ensuring all communications are audience-appropriate.
- Setting the direction for the project team, ensuring respectful communications by creating an atmosphere of collaboration and iterative improvements, inspiring people and teamwork, and welcoming change through team engagement in planning and problem-solving. Being conscious of team behavior and contributing constructive feedback to line managers for annual performance discussions.
- Leading by example and building a reputation as a pragmatic problem solver who collaborates constructively to create iterative improvements for operational efficiencies within the position, project team(s), and across the broader IT organization. Enabling decision-making by effectively analyzing business drivers and constraints and presenting alternative solutions to address problems and opportunities.
About the team
Our Strategic Program Office team is responsible for leading end to end projects for Finance and its stakeholders. The SPO at Moody’s drives the successful planning and execution of high-impact strategic initiatives across the Finance organization. As a member of this team, you will collaborate with Finance leaders to lead complex, cross-functional programs—ensuring delivery against timelines and budgets, managing interdependencies across initiatives, and proactively resolving challenges with a Finance-wide perspective. This role offers the opportunity to influence enterprise-level outcomes and contribute to the long-term success of Moody’s Finance strategy.
