Skills and Competencies

• 6-9 years of proven technology experience as a Senior Database Developer with proficiency in both relational and non-relational databases
• Strong proficiency in SQL with expertise in query optimization, index tuning, and analyzing execution plans. Experience in optimization of complex queries and stored procedures.
• Solid understanding of database design principles, including partitioning and sharing strategies.
• Experience in identifying and resolving deadlocks and blocking queries.
• Experience with multiple database platforms, including SQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB).
• Proficiency with SQL performance analysis tools such as SQL Profiler, Extended Events, and Database Tuning Advisor. Experience with performance monitoring tools and techniques for relational and non-relational databases.
• Working knowledge of database administration tasks as well such as scheduling and monitoring backup jobs, though not a full DBA role.
• Good understanding of .NET, C# and object-oriented programming, with ability to work on application-level changes that integrate with databases.
• Hands-on experience with major cloud platforms, particularly AWS and Azure, and familiarity with managed database services like AWS RDS.
• Experience working on DevOps tools to integrate database migrations and working knowledge on GitHub,
• Experience in development of large-scale, enterprise-grade financial applications is highly desirable.
• Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues efficiently.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, with a proven track record of effective teamwork.
• Familiarity with artificial intelligence coding assistants, such as Cursor and GitHub Copilot to boost productivity and efficiency.

Education

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field is required.

Responsibilities

• As the Senior Software Engineer within the Asset Management technology teams, you will collaborate with global colleagues to develop and enhance our leading products in the Structured Finance area. In this role, you will play a key part in designing and implementing solutions that address complex challenges faced by clients in the fixed income finance sector.
• Develop, optimize, and maintain complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and triggers.
• Perform SQL query optimization and index tuning to improve database performance.
• Proactively analyze and interpret execution plans to identify bottlenecks and recommend improvements.
• Design and implement efficient database schemas, including partitioning and sharding strategies for scalability.
• Collaborate with application developers to ensure optimal integration between application logic and database design.
• Carry out routine database administration tasks such as backup job scheduling and monitoring, without full DBA responsibilities.
• Support and maintain databases across multiple platforms, including SQL , Oracle, PostgreSQL and NoSQL systems.
• Monitor database performance and proactively address potential issues using tools like SQL Profiler and Extended Events. Investigate and resolve deadlocks and blocking issues in production environments.
• Make minor application-level changes in .NET C# to support database-related functionality when needed.
• Document database structures, processes, and optimization strategies.
• Stay updated with emerging database technologies, tools, and best practices to continuously improve performance and reliability.
• Lead by example in ensuring adherence to coding standards and software development methodologies.
• Communicate project and task status clearly and regularly to stakeholders, fostering transparency and alignment throughout the development process.
• Contribute actively to documentation at each stage of the software development lifecycle, ensuring clarity, consistency, and ease of future maintenance.
