Sr. Business Analyst - Data Governance - New York - 9338BR

Objective:
The individual chosen to fill this Senior Business Analyst role will be part of the Data Governance Enterprise Data Management and Strategy team supporting various data-related initiatives within Moody’s with a particular focus on supporting the Enterprise Data Management program.


Primary responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to the following:
  • Representing Data Governance in major system and business projects to ensure best practices and data standards are adhered to.
  • Independently managing and authoring thorough, detailed, high-quality documentation of all aspects of solutions, including business requirements, use cases, and other documents.
  • Resolving any conflicts with requirements between business units or between business and technology.
  • Supporting business requirements activities by providing end-to-end analysis with respect to data requirements, data flows, data modeling, workflow context and design.
  • Obtaining signoffs and managing change requests.
  • Maintaining a strong understanding of business processes, strategies, and data needs as well as IT capabilities and capacity, and participate in filtering and prioritizing requests accordingly.
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships, and keeping clients informed and engaged throughout the entire project lifecycle.
  • Trouble shooting issues and coordinate support and escalations.
  • Leading and participating in UAT testing.
  • Supporting development and adoption of data governance principles, standards, procedures and guidelines for Moody’s Corporation.
  • Assembling and maintaining business and technical metadata for Moody’s Corporation.
  • Supporting efforts to ensure that the data governance standards for Moody’s Corporation are integrated into new initiatives and applications.
  • Participating in special projects that require data governance participation and/or leadership.
Data Governance
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. A Master’s degree in Information Technology or Business is a plus.
  • Minimum of five years of work experience, preferably in financial services.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience in project management, business analysis, data analysis or a similar role.
  • Intermediate skills using MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Basic skills using Visio and MS Project. Knowledge of SQL is a plus.
  • Possesses excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to gain consensus from multiple stakeholders / experience in driving change.
  • Strong analytical skills and an ability to assimilate information quickly.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Basic understanding of SDLC methodologies.
  • Data related certifications are desirable, including CISSP (Certified Information System Security Professional), FIA (Financial Information Associate), or CDMP (Certified Data Management Professional).
