Job Description

As the leader of Financial Engineering (CMBS) you will have the opporunity to support and innovate our CMBS desk in the development and delivery of our CMBS product, research and marketing strategy including the alignment of the respective product and content strategies with other groups within Moody’s Analytics to meet the strategic and commercial objectives for the business. The position will report into the Head of Content Solutions - Structured.

Specific responsibilities will include:
  • Providing assistance and vision in developing our CMBS product strategies, including a strategic evaluation of the market and the articulation of a near, medium and long term strategy.
  • Supporting the CMBS desk in all aspects of content offerings including product roadmap, design, idea generation, testing new and enhanced features, packaging and positioning
  • Leading high profile projects, building and overseeing our CMBS research efforts and assisting the team with go to market activities.
  • Being the subject matter expert, educating the CMBS desk and the sales team on product positioning in the market
  • Establishing and managing market relationships to ensure in-depth customer and market knowledge, leveraging a “jobs to be done” approach
  • Source and analyze market feedback on products and improvise product offerings
  • Communicate product strategy to senior management and key internal stakeholders to obtain buy-in
  • Representing MA to core market communities, at company- sponsored events and third party conferences.
  • Overseeing development/ provision of collateral materials to support customer and market engagement and drive growth
  • Overseeing competitive developments constantly and developing strategic responses as a result


  • Undergraduate/first-level degree (e.g., Bachelor’s) or graduate/second-level degree (e.g. MBA, Master’s) with an emphasis in financial engineering, computer science, engineering, math, finance, economics, or a related quantitative field preferred
  • Strong understanding of CMBS and CRE markets (required); ability to train and learn quickly in areas with little prior experience
  • Significant experience in Research Product Management, Product Development, or Strategic Planning
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships both internally and externally; ability to move projects forward through people not under immediate management
  • Strong technical and analytical skills. Knowledge of SQL, Visual Basic and other scripting or coding languages preferred.
  • Excellent presentation and public speaking skills
  • Highly organized with excellent time management skills; ability to manage many competing priorities effectively and work independently
