Senior Data Analyst - Data Monitoring - New York - 14039BR

This role is responsible for performing and enabling standard reporting on data quality for Moody’s Corporation. The Senior Data Quality Analyst ensures that data quality as defined by Data Owners is regularly monitored against “fit for purpose” attributes. They will also be a key participant in data quality projects and initiatives.
Specific Responsibilities for this role include:
• Work with the Data Monitoring team to develop, document, promulgate, and maintain data quality goals and standards.
• Measure and report to management on the progress of data quality improvement through a metrics dashboard.
• Perform data profiling and analysis of data quality against fit for purpose attributes.
• Recommend maintenance enhancements to data acquisition processes to improve accuracy of data as appropriate for level.
• Make recommendations to operational support for enhancements to systems of record to improve accuracy of data as appropriate for level.
• Review integrity of data, both referential and historical.
• Monitor compliance of information flows and data stores against data quality standards.
• Identify areas for data quality improvement and help to resolve data quality problems through the appropriate choice of error detection and correction, process control and improvement, or process design strategies.
• Work with Rating Transaction Services (RTS) or other personnel in Moody’s Information Technology (MIT) to make corrections and updates as needed to ensure accuracy of data.
• Actively participate as a member of a team, providing support to team members and fostering a team environment.
• Ensure data definitions are maintained and accessible to business users.
• Periodically performs reviews to ensure that the basic metadata documentation requirements for production business systems meet Moody’s internal metadata standards.
• Participate in cross-training of others to perform other related business unit tasks.
The Data Monitoring and Regulatory Reporting team monitors the delivery and quality of ratings and data, while also coordinating the reporting of ratings data to regulators.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Data Science, Statistics or other similar field is preferred but not mandatory
• Two years or more of relevant work experience
• Proficiency with SQL required.
• Competency with R programming preferred
• Additional programming language experience such as Python, C#, Javascript, VBA etc experience desirable.
• The ability to manage the change process, to understand implications of data quality, to measure the cost and benefits of data quality, and to detect and correct errors in databases.
• Proficient office software skills (e.g. Excel, Access, Word),
• Possesses knowledge of relational databases, and familiarity with statistical packages and analysis techniques.
• Possesses excellent verbal and writing skills, project and time management skills, and the ability to work in teams.
• Possesses strong attention to detail.
• Self-starter who understands what needs to be done and is capable managing their own and their direct reports schedule (if applicable). Ability to work in a self-directed and independent manner.
