The Role / Responsibilities:
The AVP-Communications works with the global communications team to develop and execute on communication plans and strategies. Acting as a business partner to client groups within the company, and partnering with colleagues across the Communications team globally, the AVP-Communications leads and manages projects that contribute to a wide spectrum of initiatives driving either internal or external communications that further the team’s mission to be a strategic partner driving Moody’s thought leadership, enhancing reputation and influencing perception through clear and persuasive communications.
This role may include a focus in one of the following specialty areas:
Ø MEDIA RELATIONS – MOODY’S ANALYTICS
With a focus in Media Relations, the AVP-Communications supports the promotion of their business partner’s products and services (e.g. product announcements for Moody’s Analytics) by executing a variety of cross-channel media outreach strategies. Senior business partner to line of business.
§ Creating media outreach strategies that promote Moody’s Analtyics thought leadership and solutions.
§ Creation of clear, articulate messages to the media (key message documents, Q&As).
§ Managing potential risk and crisis management strategies.
§ Develops and maintains effective business relationships with print, web-based, and broadcast media journalists.
§ Media training of Moody’s Analytics spokespeople.
§ Monitoring, analyzing and reporting on resulting coverage.
§ Global coordination with peers in other regions.
§ Manages social media campaigns.
Ø CONTENT – MOODY’S ANALYTICS
With a focus in Content, the AVP-Communications creates messaging and materials to promote Moody’s research and solutions.
§ Develops content to promote Moody’s Analytics solutions; includes press releases, Fast Quotes, emails, social media posts and other content for media and market outreach.
§ Performs reviews and edits of content developed by subject matter experts.
§ Real-time media monitoring.
§ Other content development including PowerPoint presentation reviews, media training materials, regional newsletters.
§ High-profile/global special projects.
The Department / Team
The AVP-Communications will sit within the Global Communications team as an integral part of Moody’s Shared Services, the branch of Moody’s responsible for providing professional services to support the success of our global businesses in the following department:The MA Communications team is responsible for promoting the Moody’s Analytics brand and raising the visibility of our award-winning technology products, services and market-leading economic opinions. The MA Communications team takes a leadership role in developing and executing global public relations for Moody’s Analytics as the company expands to meet market demand.
§ Undergraduate degree in communications or related discipline. Master’s degree is a plus.
§ A minimum of 7 years’ experience in communications, public relations, and/or journalism, ideally within the financial services sector or corporate environment.
§ Previous experience managing outside resources or 1-3 direct report(s) preferred.
§ Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
§ Strong presentation skills.
§ Strong positive attitude, with sense of self-motivation and accountability.
§ Strong detail orientation and time management skills, including the ability to handle multiple priorities.
§ Ability to advise and influence business partners.
§ Adaptable, flexible, and open to change.
§ Strong technical/computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Powerpoint, Excel, Word, and Sharepoint software.
§ English fluency/proficiency is essential; an additional language is helpful.
Qualifications Specific to Media Relations – Moody’s Analytics:
§ Minimum of five years of public relations/communications experience, either agency or in-house, ideally within the financial services sector.
§ Experience in managing a range of relationships with both external media and internal clients.
§ Demonstrated ability to formulate and execute near-term and long-range communications strategies.
Qualifications Specific to Media Content:
§ Background in editing financial, economic or banking research.
§ Experience/comfort in using and working in customized content management systems.Prior experience managing content development team desirable
