The Role / Responsibilities:
Moody's Public, Project and Infrastructure Finance Group has an immediate opening for a Vice President-Senior Credit Officer in our Buenos Aires Office. The individual will be responsible for the ongoing credit assessment of a high profile portfolio comprised of provincial governments, corporate enterprises and projects in the electric, gas, water distribution and natural gas pipeline sectors, among others.

The Vice President-Senior Analyst will be a senior representative for our Public, Project and Infrastructure Finance franchise in Argentina. The successful candidate will join a high performing team and will assume responsibility over a portfolio of high profile cities/provinces as well as companies and projects in the energy, transportation and water sectors.

This is a very visible and sensitive market facing role; the Vice President-Senior Analyst will regularly interact with external parties, including senior government officials and regulatory agencies, private banks, investment funds and capital market groups, research departments, insurance companies, the press, industry trade groups, academia, project sponsors (i.e. construction companies), among others. As such, he or she will need the gravitas, credibility, and communication ability to act as a senior ambassador of the firm.


  • Oversee strategic relationships with an array of financial market participants, including infrastructure debt issuers, financial advisors, underwriters, and investors
  • Manage, conduct and maintain initial and on-going credit analysis on a complex and high profile portfolio of companies
  • Conduct quantitative assessment of financial statements, financial forecasts, and economic/market data, as well as analysis of financing documents including official statements, bond indentures, liquidity agreements, swap agreements and other documents
  • Lead issuer meetings, including presenting key rating factors effectively and asking probing questions that result in substantive dialog about key rating issues. Actively monitor portfolio and make recommendations for rating transitions in a timely fashion
  • Present credits effectively and comprehensively in rating committees and other internal analytical meetings to assign and maintain credit ratings
  • Produce insightful and timely research on specific issuers, sectorial credit trends or sector related issues
  • Plan and lead outreach initiatives to engage with key market participants through outreach conferences, intermediary briefings, one-on-one investor meetings and interviews with the press
  • Help ensure that the team complies with credit and compliance/regulatory policy issues as directed by Senior Management and/or the Compliance department
  • Coach and develop junior analysts and support associates with editorial guidance



  • Graduate / second-level degree (e.g. MBA, Master’s) required or equivalent strong academic background
  • 8-10 years relevant experience in public finance, project or infrastructure finance, or a related field
  • Well-developed analytical skills (accounting, finance and/or economics)
  • Very strong written and oral communication capabilities in English and Spanish. Proficiency in Portuguese would be advantageous
  • Solid interpersonal skills including strong and proven time management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast paced environment with tight deadlines while also complying with internal procedures and best practices as well as existing regulations
  • Ability to build strong professional relationship at all levels and to represent the Moody’s brand effectively
  • Strong abilities in Excel and PowerPoint as well as a hands-on approach are necessary
