VP – Commercial Operations & Client On boarding - Hong Kong - 11979BR

The Role / Responsibilities:
This role is responsible for MIS commercial operations & client on boarding in APAC and LatAm. Based in Hong Kong, this role will be primarily responsible for supervising know-your customer and client due diligence processes and for leading KYC focused teams in APAC and LatAm to:
  • Conduct customer risk assessment in full compliance with MIS policies as well as external regulatory requirements
  • Engage existing and new customers in the collection of detailed customer information and supporting documentation required for the completion of Customer Due Diligence (CDD)
  • Ensure periodic reviews, trigger based reviews and any other CDD reviews are performed in compliance with MIS policy and operational procedures
  • Investigate and escalate transaction monitoring alerts and queries
  • Ensure completeness of CDD information and supporting documentation before submitting the case to Relationship Managers (RM) for review
  • Develop team to apply logical thinking, factual analysis and self-discovered research to substantiate an opinion as part of case work
  • Control and oversee the overall output quality of the team and constant coaching to ensure team members have enough job knowledge
  • Ensure timely escalation to next level supervision on unresolved issues
  • Produce regular AML MIS reports for internal stakeholders as well as to resource plan
  • Act as business champion to work with the different levels of the Commercial Group, Legal and Compliance to ensure end to end efficiency and effectiveness in the Know Your Customer activities
  • Act as the focal point for CDD information clarification among RM, customers, CDD operations and Compliance
  • Participate in CDD related process reviews with an aim to ensure compliance with regulatory or policy changes, as well as to improve customer experience and service turnaround time
  • Act as the subject matter expert on monitoring AML risk strategies and able to independently trouble shoot problems and provide sound advice to stakeholders
  • Advise on, and resolve, potential AML issues arising across business unit and jurisdictions.
  • Perform risk-based and cross-LOB analysis focused on product, client/customer, industry sector and geography, to provide AML guidance on and define risk based solutions to complex regional business issues
  • Provide written or verbal presentations of recommendations, articulation of arguments supported by documented analysis to convince/challenge the business on recommended actions
  • Participate in CDD related process reviews with an aim to comply with regulatory or policy changes, as well as to improve customer experience and service turnaround time
  • Drive process enhancement, identify and implement strategic improvements and enhancements to existing systems, policies and guidelines to reduce risk and improve efficiency
  • Assist in implementation of AML related projects and support other AML units on an ad-hoc basis
  • Conduct regular AML training on operational procedures to KYC and Relationship Management teams
  • Update the KYC/AML-related operations guidelines and procedures in response to the regulatory changes
  • Perform ad hoc tasks as assigned
The Department / Team
Commercial Operations oversees the technology and business processes used by the global Commercial team and performs sales process activities. Sales Operations, one of the 3 key areas within Commercial Operations, supports the on boarding process by leading the Know Your Customer due diligence process for new and existing customers, among other administrative tasks. KYC team members are located in Hong Kong, Singapore and Buenos Aires.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Business Management, Finance or Accounting
  • At least 15 years working experience in an established financial institutions with experience in Sales, Relationship Management and Sales Operations
  • Over 10 years of relevant experience in AML Due Diligence with steady progression of responsibilities and scope
  • In-depth knowledge on banking operations procedures, risk management as well as regulatory compliance standards
  • Sound knowledge of AML regulations across the APAC region; knowledge of Brazilian AML regulations a plus
  • Experience in leading teams through Internal Audit, Compliance Surveillance and external audit reviews
  • Strong management and leadership skills, ability to effective manage regional initiatives
  • Strong people management skills
  • Able to communicate effectively, clearly and concisely at all levels both internally and externally
  • Must be a self-starter, pro-active, organized, with a keen eye on details and have the ability to work independently at a local, regional and global level
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and commercial acumen required for rapport building with customers and internal staff
  • Highly motivated, intuitive and possess initiative to identify potential process improvements
  • An analytical mind with attention to detail
  • Able to plan, organize and drive through results under conflicting priorities and pressures
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English
  • Fluency in Asian languages (such as Cantonese, Mandarin) advantageous
  • CAMS qualified
