Executive Compensation Analyst - New York - 11893BR

The Role:

The Executive Compensation Analyst will assist in the design, planning, and administration of Moody’s global compensation programs to ensure their market competiveness. Additionally, this role will support the plan administration of our equity programs, the subsequent taxation related to globally mobile employees, and the creation of executive compensation disclosures.


  • Conduct analyses on a broad range of compensation projects, including financial analysis of compensation programs and initiatives, (e.g., long-term incentive design and planning, competitive pay analyses, proxy peer group data, etc.)
  • Gather and analyze compensation and financial data and model alternative approaches to performance- and stock-based compensation
  • Assist in on-going equity plan administration by maintaining and reconciling equity program data with stock plan administrator, running reports, and answering stock plan related inquiries
  • Primarily responsible for tracking the globally mobile employee population with outstanding equity awards, assisting in reviewing tax calculations, and coordinating with payrolls globally
  • Assist in reviewing and maintaining tax rates on stock plan administrator system while tracking share transaction activity to ensure that equity transactions (restricted stock vestings and option exercises) are appropriately reported and taxed
  • Support global benchmarking process by participating in and analyzing industry survey data to determine competitiveness of total compensation programs
  • Assist in preparing materials for Compensation Committee meetings, Proxy filings and quarterly financial reports
  • Work with generalists and recruiters on compensation matters, including job evaluations and providing recommendations for various compensation actions
  • Provide analytic support in consulting with senior management on various compensation analysis requests to ensure they are kept informed of relevant current compensation practices and trends
  • Interact regularly with the Legal, Finance, Payroll, and Tax Departments with respect to regulatory filings, US and international tax issues and proxy disclosure and annual report tables
  • Approximately three to five years experience in analytical position
  • BA or equivalent in numerate discipline preferred (i.e. accounting, finance, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of executive compensation market practices
  • Familiarity with common types of annual and long-term incentive vehicles, stock accounting requirements, and SEC disclosures highly desirable
  • Experience developing presentations and other communication materials for use with senior level executives
  • Exposure to international compensation including an appreciation for the complexity of managing a global population and employer tax and reporting obligations
  • Strong critical thinking, communication and analytical skills
  • Good organization skills with the ability to juggle projects and meet deadlines
  • Expert with MS Office applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Experience in financial services, banking, or compensation consulting a plus
