As Data Analyst in the Data management and operations team, you will be working on critical quality control system that monitor and correct vital financial data driving Moody’s Analytics’ leading quantitative credit risk measurement tools and software applications. You’ll perform data analysis to help optimize and build lean, repeatable quality control processes while partnering with other teams such as Research, Financial Engineering, Software Engineering, and Product Strategy. In addition, the Data Operations Associate will be responsible for resolving data issues by performing investigation and research utilizing available data tools and sources. You will also be expected to contribute to the creation of data handling and treatment policies aimed at preserving overall data quality.
We’re looking for a resourceful top performer who is passionate about technology and financial data, and interested in learning about risk management. You should have excellent data analysis skills with the ability to dissect data effectively and ask the right questions. You should also have the capacity or potential to solve difficult problems while being able to take on multiple projects and see them through to completion. The ideal candidate will be extremely flexible who has a demonstrated record of driving improvements to existing processes and helping build new ones.

  • Perform time-sensitive validation of financial data used in calculations that feed our credit risk measurement and management products.
  • Evaluate existing business rules and efficiency, and optimize existing systems.
  • Efficiently design and build data validation framework for new processes or models, including building data models, database objects, case study, stats testing, documentation, and process automation.
  • Assist in analyzing data for new credit risk models, and evaluate data from potential data providers.
  • Identify, research, and resolve model data issues from clients or internal users; coordinate with Production team and Risk Support team to deliver corrections.
  • Work with our Research, Production, Support, Application Development teams, as well as external data providers, for model or data issues.
  • Complete planning, analysis and reporting independently or through teamwork.
  • Strong planning/organizing skills to handle multiple tasks appropriately.

Enterprise Risk Solutions Data Intelligence, Data management and Operations
  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Finance, Operations Research, Economics or a related field. Master’s degree is preferred.
  • High attention and patience to detail with excellent organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects at the same time.
  • Hands on experience with databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or Sybase) and/or statistical packages (R, SAS, Stata, SPSS, etc).
  • Familiarity with equity and fixed-income markets, or relevant concept.
  • Ability to correctly read and interpret financial statements.
  • Strong analytical skills and persistence in problem solving.
  • Proficient in MS Office suite, excellent in Excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 1~2 year work experience with financial data analysis.
  • CFA or FRM candidate.
  • Exposure to financial risk models.
  • Strong statistics background, experience with mining data sets.
  • Experience with programming in one or more of the following languages: Python, PHP, Java, C++, C, VBA.
  • Data visualization experience such as building dashboards in TIBCO Spotfire, Tableau or QlikView.
  • Experience documenting standard operating procedures.
